The future of Inter Milan-owned midfielder Lucien Agoume on loan at Sevilla is yet to be decided, and will in the coming weeks.

This according to Italian news outlet FCInterNews. The outlet note that the 22-year-old is back in action recently after suffering a thigh strain.

Inter-owned midfielder Agoume is currently on loan with Sevilla.

The France Under-21 international joined the La Liga side on loan during the January transfer window.

Agoume had already been expected to leave Inter earlier. The Nerazzurri attempted to find a new club for the Frenchman during the summer transfer window prior to this season.

Agoume was not a player with a major part in Inter’s first-team plans over the first part of the season.

The 22-year-old only made one single appearance for the Nerazzurri over the first half of the campaign. This came in the form of a late cameo from the bench against Salernitana.

So it always looked likely that Agoume would join a new club in January.

Future Of Inter Owned Lucien Agoume At Sevilla Still Undecided

Agoume was the subject of transfer interest from both Sevilla and Marseille during the January transfer window.

The two clubs went head-to-head to try and loan the 22-year-old.

In the end, it was the Spanish side won out. They convinced Agoume, with the player’s decision the crucial factor in where he wound up in January.

After a couple of appearances in the winter after arriving at Sevilla on loan, Agoume suffered a strain to the femoral muscle in his thigh.

This caused the Inter-owned midfielder to miss around a month of action.

That was hardly ideal for a player whose priority has been to get regular playing time over the second half of the season.

In the prior two campaigns, Agoume had played for the likes of Brest and Troyes on loan. At both clubs, he had been a regular starter, albeit with his spell at the latter club disrupted by injury.

And now, it looks as though Agoume could finally get his chance to show what he’s capable of in the Sevilla starting eleven.

The 22-year-old is back from injury. And as FCIN note, the midfielder got 25 minutes off the bench against Getafe this weekend.

Therefore, in the final few weeks of the season, it can be expected that Agoume will get more opportunities.

These will be crucial in determining the Frenchman’s future.

Sevilla have an 8 million purchase option on Agoume. Meanwhile, Inter would have a buyback clause worth 16 million.

Sevilla have yet to decide whether to exercise that purchase option.

But there will be a meeting between the relevant parties in the coming weeks. Sevilla will decide on whether to sign Agoume on a permanent basis in the meantime.
