Inter Milan defender Alessandro Bastoni has won praise for a “complete” performance in the team’s Serie A win over Empoli.

L’Interista highlight the outstanding scores that the 24-year-old received in the player ratings for the match across Italian media.

Bastoni has become a player with more and more of an impact on both sides of the ball for Inter with each passing season.

This has been the case defensively. The former Parma and Atalanta defender has looked more composed, and has used his pace, physicality, and man-marking skills to good effect.

And it has been even clearer with Bastoni’s influence going forward.

The Italian international had always played a big role in the buildup phase. His passing was at the heart of Inter’s attacking moves under Antonio Conte.

But that was always more a matter of Bastoni playing proactively from a defensive role.

This season in particular, there has been more and more license for the 24-year-old to become almost a midfield or attacking player.

Alessandro Bastoni Praised For “Complete” Display Vs Empoli

Against Empoli on Monday, both sides of Bastoni’s game were on full display.

Defensively, the 24-year-old was arguably Inter’s outstanding player at the back. Bastoni made a number of importance tackles and clearances.

The Italian’s coolness and composure were key to Inter seeing out the first half spells of pressure from Empoli without really allowing any good opportunities.

Bastoni’s positioning were solid. This was at one point one of the weaker aspects of the Inter defender’s game. But he acquitted himself well on Monday.

And in attack, Bastoni was every bit as important.

The 24-year-old pushed forward freely, particularly in the early stages of the match.

Bastoni was a player right at the heart of Inter’s push for an early goal. He took up positions in midfield and even in the final third, showing the technical quality to play there.

And then, it was Bastoni who set up Federico Dimarco for Inter’s opening goal.

The vision and technique on the past for Dimarco would not have looked out of place coming from a Number Ten.
