Inter Milan players will comprise the spine of the Italy national team at EURO 2024, with as many as six potential starters for the Azzurri.

This “Italo-Inter” axis is highlighted in today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews.

Italy coach Luciano Spalletti has not hidden the fact that he is ready to rely on Inter players in Germany this summer.

The former Nerazzurri, Napoli, and Roma coach also looks ready to switch the formation to a back three.

This would allow the national team to get the best out of the Inter players in the squad. All of these players are used to a back-three system at club level.

And it is not hard to see why Spalletti would be keen to reproduce the Inter players’ club form for the national team.

Not only are Inter the outstanding team in Serie A this season. There is also a large number of Nerazzurri players in the Italy squad.

And there is every chance of five or six of them on the pitch at any given time this summer.

Inter Players Form The Core Of Italy Squad For EURO 2024

First, there are the biggest names.

Midfielder Nicolo Barella and Alessandro Bastoni have long looked likely to be key parts of the spine for Italy.

Barella was already a first-choice starter at the last Euros. And Bastoni has always been the top name to inherit the mantle of former Juventus legends Giorgio Chiellini and Leonardo Bonucci.

But it’s not just those two – far from it.

In the last couple of years, wingback Federico Dimarco has emerged as a key starter for Inter.
And the 26-year-old has had a similar trajectory for Italy in parallel.

There is little doubt that Dimarco will be the player to start on the right for the Azzurri at the Euros.

Meanwhile, veterans Matteo Darmian and Francesco Acerbi also stand a good chance of starting.

Their revitalization playing under Simone Inzaghi at Inter has forced the veteran pair into Spalletti’s plans.

And lastly, there is former Sassuolo midfielder Davide Frattesi.

The 24-year-old’s case is somewhat paradoxical. Frattesi rarely starts for Inter, but there is a real chance of his being in the first-choice lineup for Italy this summer.
