Inter Milan have now pinpointed Genoa striker Alfred Gudmundsson and Atletico Madrid defender Mario Hermoso as their primary targets for the summer.

The Nerazzurri have already booked Piotr Zielinski and Mehdi Taremi for next season. The Polish midfielder and Iranian strikers will sign as free agents once they see out their deals with Napoli and Porto respectively.

But as La Gazzetta dello Sport (via FcInterNews) explains, the squad still requires a few more additions.

The Nerazzurri will have a marathon campaign in 2024/25 after qualifying for the FIFA Club World Cup. Therefore, Simone Inzaghi will need a large squad at his disposal.

So as the source tells it, Inter are looking to add Gudmundsson and Hermoso to their ranks in the summer. They have reportedly identified them as their main summer targets.

The Genoa star has been one of the best revelations of the Serie A campaign. The 26-year-old has already scored 13 goals in all competitions for the Grifone. He has also been delivering the goods on the international level with Iceland.

Genoa have slapped a 35 million euros valuation on the player’s back.

If the Nerazzurri were to sign the second striker, it would raise doubts over the future of Alexis Sanchez, Marko Arnautovic and Valentin Carboni.

On the other hand, Hermoso will be much more affordable. After all, his contract with Atletico will expire at the end of the season.

The Spaniard is a 28-year-old defender capable of playing either on the left or at the center of the back three.

He would be a good replacement for the aging Francesco Acerbi or Stefan de Vrij.

Nevertheless, Inter will have to overcome competition from the Saudi Pro League and the Premier for his services.
