Inter Milan defender Alessandro Bastoni will not be part of the Nerazzurri squad for Monday’s Serie A match away to Udinese.

Italian news outlet FCInter1908 report that the 24-year-old will not even travel for the match. He will stay behind and work on his recovery process from a thigh flexor injury.

Yesterday, defender Bastoni picked up a knock to his thigh in training.

The injury is not a serious one. The Italian international should be able to fully recover from the problem in a matter of days.

However, the match against Udinese is now less than two days away.

And so there is very little time in which to get back to fitness for Bastoni.

The priority will therefore be not to take any risks with the former Parma and Atalanta defender’s fitness.

Alessandro Bastoni Won’t Be Called Up For Udinese Vs Inter Serie A Clash

It has been clear that Bastoni would not be able to start on Monday.

However, there was initially a sense that the Inter defender would at least be fit enough to start on the bench.

However, FCIN1908 report, that will not be the case. Bastoni will not be able to play at all in the match.

Therefore, the Italian will not travel with the rest of the squad to Liguria for the match.

The hope will be to have Bastoni back fit and available for Inter’s next match. The Nerazzurri host Cagliari in Serie A next Sunday. Then comes the derby against AC Milan the following weekend.

Meanwhile, Carlos Augusto should be ready to start on the left of Inter’s defense, Bastoni’s usual position.

The versatile Brazilian is capable of playing both at left-wingback and on the left of a back three. He has started in the latter position on a number of occasions this season.

And according to FCIN1908, that is where Augusto will start on Monday.

Meanwhile, Francesco Acerbi and Benjamin Pavard can take up their usual positions in Inter’s back three.

Then, defender Stefan de Vrij is just coming back from a thigh injury.

It is not entirely clear whether or not the Dutchman will be part of the matchday squad for Inter. But he certainly will not start the match against Udinese.
