Inter Milan are ready to offer Atletico Madrid defender Mario Hermoso a four-year contract, whilst Alvaro Morata has recommended a move to Serie A.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews.

28-year-old former Espanyol defender Hermoso has come onto Inter’s radar as a possible target to bolster their defense for next season.

The Spaniard’s contract with Atletico Madrid runs out at the end of June.

And the Nerazzurri have certainly never been shy about pursuing free transfer opportunities in recent years.

Moreover, Hermoso would be a player with a fairly logical profile for Inter’s needs.

The 28-year-old has played in a back three for much of his time at Atletico.

The Colchoneros’ switch to playing with a back three has been ideal for Hermoso. The Spaniard has really thrived playing the wide role on the left of a back three.

Therefore, Inter see Hermoso as ideal to provide backup and competition for Alessandro Bastoni.

Inter Readying 4-Year Contract Offer For Mario Hermoso – Alvaro Morata Recommends Serie A

Even though Hermoso will not require a transfer fee to sign, the defender will certainly expect substantial wages.

According to the Gazzetta, Inter would be ready to offer the Spaniard a four-year deal worth 5 million net per season plus add-ons.

But even with an offer of that scale, the Nerazzurri would have to beat the competition for Hermoso’s signature.

The Gazzetta note that teams in the Premier League in particular are eyeing the Spaniard up.

But according to the newspaper, there could be one factor in particular that favours Inter.

That is the personal recommendation by Hermoso’s Atletico teammate Alvaro Morata to make the move to a team in Serie A.

Morata has played in the Italian top flight for four seasons in total. All of these came at Juventus.

And the 31-year-old feels that Hermoso would thrive in Serie A, particularly given the defender’s proficiency playing in a back three system.
