Man United striker Anthony Martial has been offered to Inter Milan on a free transfer for the upcoming summer transfer window.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews. The newspaper anticipate that the Frenchman could be the Nerazzurri’s backup target for Albert Gudmundsson.

Martial is set to leave Manchester United at the end of the season.

The Red Devils will not extend the 28-year-old’s contract – therefore, his time at Old Trafford will come to an end after nine years.

The Frenchman joined United in the summer of 2015. He has made over three hundred appearances and scored ninety goals for the Red Devils across all competitions.

But the broad sense is that Martial has never quite lived up to his potential at Old Trafford.

Martial will likely have no shortage of suitors during the summer.

Even though the 28-year-old has never fully convinced in a United shirt, his quality is undeniable.

Man United Striker Anthony Martial Offered To Inter Milan

Inter are among the clubs to have eyed up Martial over the years.

The Frenchman has been a player of interest for Nerazzurri Sporting Director Piero Ausilio ever since his time at Monaco.

Therefore, it is not too surprising that Inter would be among the clubs that Martial’s representatives are sounding out as a potential landing spot after the striker leaves United.

The Nerazzurri could represent an opportunity to Martial to win trophies in the coming season.

And Inter are indeed on the lookout for an attacking signing this summer.

The Nerazzurri are not finished with the signing of Mehdi Taremi on a free transfer from Porto. They want to sign another striker to further bolster the attacking depth.

Martial could be an opportunity to make another big name free transfer signing of a striker.

But according to the Gazzetta, the United man would only be a backup option to the real first-choice target.

That would be 26-year-old Genoa forward Albert Gudmundsson.
