Inter Milan defender Stefan de Vrij will miss tomorrow’s Serie A match away to Udinese due to a thigh injury.

This according to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, via FCInterNews. The outlet reports that the Dutchman will not be called up for the match in Friuli.

De Vrij is still recovering for a thigh strain that he had picked up during the international break.

The 32-year-old is not far from making a return. However, he has still not re-joined the rest of the squad in full training.

Therefore, de Vrij will not travel with the team for Udine for tomorrow evening’s Serie A match.

De Vrij had already missed last Monday’s Serie A match against Empoli.

The thigh strain that the former Lazio and Feyenoord defender is currently recovering from occurred whilst he was away with the Dutch national team during the break.

Stefan De Vrij To Miss Udinese Vs Inter Serie A Clash Due To Injury

De Vrij should certainly be back in time for Inter’s next match after tomorrow’s. That will be against Cagliari next weekend.

But in the meantime, Nerazzurri coach Simone Inzaghi faces a bit of a selection headache at the back.

Italian international Alessandro Bastoni will also be missing from the squad for tomorrow’s match.

Bastoni picked up a slight knock to his thigh in training on Friday. And like de Vrij, the 24-year-old will not be travelling with the squad for Friuli for tomorrow’s match.

That means that Inzaghi will have to select the back three without a couple key defenders at his disposal.

Sky confirm that it will be Carlos Augusto who will start in defense. The versatile Brazilian has proven this season that he is more than capable of starting on the left of the back three.

Then, Francesco Acerbi will start in the middle of the back three. And Benjamin Pavard will take up his usual position on the left of the defense.
