Cagliari will be without the services of Andrea Petagna in the upcoming Serie A clash against Inter Milan at San Siro on Sunday night.

The AC Milan youth product is spending the current campaign on loan in Sardinia, while Monza still owns his card.

The 28-year-old has been out with a calf injury for more than a month. Moreover, all hopes of a return against Inter have been quashed.

According to FcInterNews, Claudio Ranieri will once again be without Petagna who’s still undergoing personalized training.

The absence of the former Napoli, Spal and Atalanta striker leaves the Isolani short of options up front. Club captain Leonardo Pavoletti is also unavailable.

Nevertheless, Ranieri can still rely on the services of the experienced Gianluca Lapadula as well as Eldor Shomurodov who recently returned from a long absence.

As for Petagna, he hasn’t truly delivered the goods this season in front of goal. He only contributed with a single goal and an assist in 18 Serie A fixtures.

Cagliari Striker Andrea Petagna Remains Out Of Action – Will Miss Inter Milan Clash

But the most menacing absence for Cagliari will most likely be that of Nahitan Nandez. The versatile Uruguayan will be serving a one-match ban after picking up his fifth booking of the season.

The same goes for 28-year-old Italian midfielder Alessandro Deiola.

Nevertheless, Inter will also be missing a key duo of their own through suspension. We’re talking about French defender Benjamin Pavard and club captain Lautaro Martinez.

The two players will skip Sunday’s fixture before resuming action in the Derby della Madonnina against AC Milan on April 22nd, in a showdown that could see the Nerazzurri mathematically clinch the Scudetto title.
