Former Inter Milan goalkeeper Sebastian Frey urges the Nerazzurri to focus on sealing the Scudetto title regardless of the timing.

In recent weeks, Inter supporters have been enticed by the prospect of mathematically clinching the title with a win over AC Milan in the Derby della Madonnina.

Following their comeback victory over Udinese on Monday, Simone Inzaghi’s men are two wins away from the triumph.

So if they manage to beat Cagliari at home this Sunday, we could witness a decisive Derby showdown on April 22nd.

The two crosstown rivals have been vying to reach the second star. Both clubs currently have 19 league titles in their trophy cabinet.

Therefore, unlocking the second star with a win over Milan would be the cherry on top for the Inter faithful.

Ex Inter Milan Goalkeeper Sebastian Frey Belittles The Importance Of Winning Serie A Title In Milan Derby

Nevertheless, Frey strays away from this discussion, downplaying the whole notion. The retired French goalkeeper prefers to focus on the main prize.

“Inter’s match against Udinese wasn’t the best for the Nerazzurri in terms of performance. But in the end, they managed to win it. It was a clear and unquestioned domination,” noted the 44-year-old in his interview with TV Play via FcInterNews.

“And it doesn’t matter if Inzaghi’s team wins the scudetto in the derby. The important thing is to reach the finish line.”

Inter currently lead the table with a 14-point separating them from AC Milan in second place.

Only Juventus managed to maintain pace with the Nerazzurri this season, before suffering a mid-season collapse in February.
