Inter Milan see Man United wingback Aaron Wan-Bissaka as an “ideal” replacement for Denzel Dumfries if the Dutchman leaves.

This according to Italian news outlet Gazzetta.it.

Inter could be on the lookout for a right-wingback during the summer transfer window.

Everything would depend on the future of 27-year-old former PSV wingback Dumfries.

The Dutchman’s current contract with Inter runs until the end of June 2025. He is still on the same four-year contract that he signed when he joined the club in 2021.

And if Dumfries does not extend his contract, then Inter will aim to sell the player.

At the moment, it is unclear on whether or not Dumfries will sign a new deal.

Inter have been in talks with the Dutchman’s representatives. However, to date they have not come to an agreement on a new deal.

Reports suggest that there has been a fair amount of distance between Dumfries’s demands, and what Inter are willing to offer.

Therefore, Inter could be looking to sell thew 27-year-old this summer to avoid losing him on a free transfer when his contract expires.

Inter See Man United Wingback Aaron Wan-Bissaka As “Ideal” Replacement For Denzel Dumfries

Should Dumfries head for the exit door, Inter will look to sign a player with a similar profile.

And according to the Gazzetta, Manchester United’s Wan-Bissaka is a player who the Nerazzurri see as “ideal” to replace Dumfries.

Wan-Bissaka joined United in the summer of 2019. He made the switch from Crystal Palace.

In truth, the Englishman has never quite lived up to expectations at Old Trafford. Particularly considering that the Red Devils had paid a very significant fee to sign him.

Therefore, United could listen to offers for Wan-Bissaka.

And the 26-year-old may welcome the opportunity to try his luck in a new league. Particularly if he were to still have the chance to play Champions League football.

Inter believe that despite Wan-Bissaka not quite meeting expectations at United, the English wingback has the right qualities to shine in Simone Inzaghi’s 3-5-2 system.

Wan-Bissaka’s speed on and off the ball could make him an asset on the flank. And the player could take on a slightly different tactical role compared to playing on the right of a back four.
