Legendary former Italy forward Roberto Baggio feels that Lautaro Martinez has been the player who “makes the difference” for Inter Milan this season.

Speaking to LaPresse, via FCInterNews, the iconic former Inter, Juventus, and Fiorentina star was full of praise for the current Nerazzurri captain, as well as for the style of play that Inter employ.

This season has certainly not been a one-player act by Inter.

The Nerazzurri have had standout players in every area of the pitch.

Moreover, the way that the team plays has gotten the best out of everyone in the squad. Inter have been a force to be reckoned with on both sides of the ball.

But that does not mean that there have not been standout individual performers.

Roberto Baggio Full Of Praise For Inter Captain Lautaro Martinez

And perhaps no one has had a more individually impressive campaign for the Nerazzurri than their captain Lautaro Martinez.

The most eye-catching figure has been the Argentine’s goal total.

Martinez has found the back of the net 23 times in Serie A. And his total is 26 across all competitions.

Still, it would be a mistake to reduce Martinez’s performances to just his goals.

The Inter captain has also been the player who sets the tone for how Inter play, both in and out of possession.

Martinez has provided an intense workrate off the ball, always acting as the first line of defense for the team.

And in possession, Martinez’s movement to make himself an option for teammates and quality with the ball at his feet and in the pass have stitched together Inter’s attacking moves.

Baggio commented that “Inter’s success has undoubtedly depended on the style of play they have in every match.”

“And then also on Lautaro Martinez,” the Italy legend continued.

“He’s often made the difference, and given the team an extra boost.”
