Inter Milan are planning an ambitious summer squad refresh, with Albert Gudmundsson and Bento among their key targets.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews.

Inter are on the verge of winning the Serie A title for this season.

But off the pitch, the Nerazzurri’s focus is already squarely on next season. The club feel that they are far from finished with this season’s incoming triumph – they want to keep fighting for more trophies.

And this will necessarily mean strengthening the squad.

Inter will want to fight on multiple fronts next season.

Greater squad depth will be needed. Particularly given the expansions to the Champions League and Club World Cup competitions next campaign.

And according to the Gazzetta, Inter have clear ideas about how they want to head into next season.

Inter Plot Squad Refresh With Gudmundsson & Bento Key Targets

Inter are already making two big signings this summer.

Striker Mehdi Taremi and midfielder Piotr Zielinski will arrive on free transfers from Porto and Napoli respectively.

That pair could give Inter a major boost in terms of strength in depth in attack and midfield respectively.

But Inter are not finished there.

Firstly, the Gazzetta report, Inter still feel that another attacking signing will be necessary even with the arrival of Taremi.

And the newspaper confirm who the Nerazzurri’s primary target is in this respect. They see Genoa forward Gudmundsson as the perfect profile.

The Grifone will certainly want no less than 30 million to sell Gudmundsson.

But Inter feel that a move for the 26-year-old Icelandic international is possible.

Meanwhile, the Gazzetta report, Inter want to use this summer to sort out the long-term future in goal.

The newspaper anticipate that the Nerazzurri will aim to sign Athletico Paranaense goalkeeper Bento.

Inter see the Brazilian as the right player to back up Yann Sommer in the short term – and succeed the former Bayern Munich veteran moving into the future.

But there are a number of clubs keen on signing Bento. Therefore, Inter will have to move fast in order to get a deal done.
