Legendary former Nerazzurri President Massimo Moratti would be very pleased if Inter Milan could clinch the Serie A title against AC Milan.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster Radio 24, via FCInterNews, Moratti described the prospect as a “special treat.”

Between them, Inter and Milan have won the Serie A title 38 times – nineteen each.

But in none of those title victories has the decisive match for the title been the Milan derby.

The Nerazzurri and the Rossoneri have faced off in plenty of derby clashes with huge stakes. These have included Champions League semifinals like last season’s.

And the derby has certainly been an important match in title races in the past.

However, neither Inter nor Milan have ever actually clinched the title with a result against their city rivals.

Moratti: Inter Clinching Serie A Vs AC Milan Would Be A “Special Treat”

Inter have the chance to mathematically secure the title in a derby for the first time with their twentieth Scudetto.

The Nerazzurri would need a win in tomorrow’s derby in order to do so.

A draw would still leave the Rossoneri with some hope of lifting the title, albeit only on paper.

Legendary former Inter President Moratti mused on the matter, “There’s a lot of enthusiasm because, in any event, we’re one step away from something incredible in the second star.”

“And what’s more, doing it in the derby against Milan would have a special flavour.”

“Clinching it against the Rossoneri woulds be a special treat,” Moratti continued.

The former Inter President also gave his thoughts on his favourite player from this current Nerazzurri team.

“This Inter is more of a team than individuals. But if I had to name one, I’d say Nicolo Barella.”

Moratti called the 27-year-old former Cagliari midfielder “An exceptional player.”

“Then, we also have Federico Dimarco,” he noted.

He described the 26-year-old wingback, who is a Nerazzurri youth academy graduate “A source of pride for Inter fans, to see how good he’s become.”

“And then there’s Lautaro Martinez. Another great player.”
