Steven Zhang feels that as long as he is President of Inter Milan, the Nerazzurri will continue to be ambitious to win trophies.

The Nerazzurri President spoke to Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport in an interview published in today’s print edition, via FCInterNews.

Recent reports suggest that Inter owners Suning are securing a new loan that will allow them to refinance their debt to Oaktree Capital.

That would allow the present owners to remain at the helm.

And it would entail that the current President Steven Zhang could also stay in post for the foreseeable future.

Since he became President of Inter, Zhang has guided the Nerazzurri to six trophies.

And Inter are certainly on the verge of a seventh – the second Serie A title of Zhang’s reign.

This has come despite the fact that Inter have faced major financial restrictions in the past few years.

Since the start of the pandemic, Inter’s money issues have been well-known. These have prevented the club from spending in the transfer market the way many of Europe’s other elite clubs do.

Steven Zhang: “As Long As I’m President, Inter Will Aim For The Top”

But Zhang has hit out at the idea that under his tenure, Inter cannot push to be at the highest level.

The President made clear that “As long as I’m President and owner of the club, Inter will always be competitive at the highest level.”

Zhang continued that “We’re ready to write history.”

“We’re very close to doing so,” the Nerazzurri President continued. Inter could very well clinch this season’s Serie A title in the derby against AC Milan tomorrow.

“My heart is with Inter,” Zhang said. “With my coach, with my players, and with our fans.”

This summer Inter will likely go into the transfer window with the same sort of strategy as the last few.

But so far, that has not held Inter back in their quest for trophies.
