Inter Milan defender Francesco Acerbi has managed to overcome the recent controversy to secure himself a place at the club next season.

During an encounter between the Nerazzurri and Napoli last month, Partenopei defender Juan Jesus accused the Nerazzurri veteran of racially abusing him.

The incident stimulated a major media storm and threatened to end the 36-year-old stint at Appiano Gentile.

The Italian categorically denied the claim. Eventually, sporting justice found him not guilty due to the lack of evidence.

While this certainly eased the pressure on Acerbi’s shoulders, some still that Inter should break their ties with him.

Nevertheless, the Italy international has now won over the club’s support, especially following his goal on Monday.

Acerbi broke the deadlock in the historic Derby della Madonnina against AC Milan, paving the way for a 2-1 win. This result secured the Serie A title, unlocking Inter’s second star.

So according to Sportmediaset via FcInterNews, Acerbi’s exit talks are now a thing of the past.

The veteran defender has a contract valid until 2025 and will be looking to fulfill it.

Inter Milan Veteran Francesco Acerbi To Remain At The Club Beyond The Current Campaign

The Italian joined the Nerazzurri in 2022, initially on loan from Lazio. His exploits during his maiden campaign earned him a permanent move last summer.

The former Sassuolo man continues to act as a protagonist at the back for Simone Inzaghi’s side.

This season, he has made 36 appearances in all competitions. He contributed with three goals and two assists.

Acerbi will also be hoping to regain his spot with the Italian national team ahead of the Euro 2024.
