Former striker Aldo Serena feels that even with the support Inter Milan have given him, Simone Inzaghi has “outdone himself.”

The former Nerazzurri, AC Milan, and Juventus striker spoke on Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, via FCInterNews. He praised the current Inter coach’s work and growth this season.

Inzaghi has had to navigate some difficulties whilst coach of Inter.

In some ways, these started before he had ever had a match in charge of the club.

In his very first summer in charge of Inter, Inzaghi had to cope with the sales of Achraf Hakimi and Romelu Lukaku.

And there have been other big departures since, such as Milan Skriniar, Andre Onana, and Marcelo Brozovic.

But on the other hand, Inter have provided Inzaghi with a very strong, balanced squad. This has been in spite of the financial restrictions that are no great secret.

Serena: “Inter Have Supported Simone Inzaghi, But He’s Outdone Himself”

Former Inter and Milan striker Serena said of Inzaghi that “He’s had the support of a strong club behind him.”

“They understood where they needed to make signings in order to form a strong group,” he continued.

Still, Serena said of Inzaghi that “He’s outdone himself.”

The former Italy striker praised the way that the Nerazzurri play under Inzaghi this season. “Inter play in an attacking, modern way,” he argued.

“Sometimes, we can’t erase our past,” Serena suggested. He called Inzaghi “A striker whose best quality was finishing.”

“He was a player who needed quick, immediate actions.”

“And that’s also how his current Inter play,” Serena said.

Inter’s Serie A win over Torino has taken them onto 89 points for the season.

The Nerazzurri have already clinched the title with their win over AC Milan in the derby. And now, they continue to widen the gap at the top of the table.
