Inter Milan goalkeeper Yann Sommer missed today’s training session due to a slight fever.

This according to Italian news outlet TuttoMercatoWeb. The outlet anticipate that the 36-year-old could be back in training as early as tomorrow.

Today, Inter’s squad returns to training.

The Nerazzurri have had the past couple of days off following the Serie A title celebrations over the weekend.

However, the players are now working to prepare for this Saturday’s Serie A match away to Sassuolo.

There are a couple of players absent, however.

One of these is former Bayern Munich and Borussia Monchengladbach goalkeeper Sommer.

Inter Milan Goalkeeper Yann Sommer Absent From Training Due To Fever

Sommer has featured in the vast majority of Inter’s matches this season.

The 35-year-old has started in 32 out of Inter’s 34 league matches so far.

Sommer missed out on matches against the likes of Lecce and Empoli in the league.

It was Emil Audero who filled in for the Swiss international in both of those matches. Audero helped the Nerazzurri keep clean sheets on both occasions.

The match against Empoli came after the international break, in which Sommer had suffered a minor ankle injury, and that was the reason he missed out.

Meanwhile, a fever had also been the reason why Sommer did not play against Lecce.

And according to TMW, the 35-year-old is once again suffering from a slight fever.

Therefore, Sommer stayed home rather than returning to training with the rest of his teammates.

Nevertheless, TMW report, it will not be long before the goalkeeper is back in training.

The 35-year-old could in fact be back in full training with the rest of his teammates as early as tomorrow’s session.

Therefore, it does not look as though Sommer would be much of a risk for missing Saturday’s Serie A match against Sassuolo.
