The agent of teenage striker Anton Matkovic has given his thoughts on Inter Milan transfer links and Mario Mandzukic comparisons.
The 18-year-old’s agent Marjan Sisic spoke to Italian news outlet FCInterNews.
Matkovic’s name has come up in the transfer rumours in the last couple days.
Recent reports indicate that Inter are among the clubs tracking the young striker.
Matkovic is still only just beginning to get his start in senior football.
However, the Croatian is already starting to earn comparisons to one of his national side’s best strikers ever – former Juventus, Bayern Munich, and Atletico Madrid man Mario Mandzukic.
Naturally, it will be tough to even think of matching the 2018 World Cup finalist’s legacy.
But Matkovic is potentially on a path to a big club. The Nerazzurri reportedly see him as potentially being a player for the future.
Agent Of Anton Matkovic On Inter Links, Mandzukic Comparisons
Matkovic’s agent suggested that the comparisons to Mandzukic have arisen “Because of a similar style of play.”
“And because they both started their careers at the same club. Marsonia.”
“He’s a very fast, strong, tall footballer,” Matkovic’s agent said of the teenage striker.
“He’s very hard-working, and diligent.”
“He can also play as a winger,” the agent revealed. That was also a familiar position for Mandzukic, who would at times play on the left for Juventus in particular.
“But personally, I see him as potentially a top centre-forward,” Sisic explained.
“I believe that’s the position for him in the future.”
As far as links to Inter coach, Matkovic’s agent said that “I don’t want to comment about rumours regarding any specific club.”
“The world of football is small,” he added.
“Real talents get identified quickly. Then, a lot of different clubs follow them.”
