Neroverdi CEO Giovanni Carnevali believes that “there’s still hope” for Sassuolo in Serie A after their win over Inter Milan.

The executive spoke to Italian broadcaster Radio Anch’Io Lo Sport, via FCInterNews.

Sassuolo have well and truly confirmed their status as a “bogey team” for Inter this season.

The Nerazzurri have suffered just two losses in Serie A.

Both have come against Sassuolo.

The Emilian team have beaten Inter both home and away, managing to do something no other team has done in the league in a campaign where the Nerazzurri have been nothing short of the dominant force.

What really drives the point home that the Neroverdi are a true “bete noire” for Inter is the fact that, otherwise, their form has been downright dreadful.

Even with the six points that Sassuolo took off Inter, they are still in the relegation zone.

Carnevali: “There’s Still Hope” For Sassuolo After Inter Win

The victory over Inter on Saturday evening was certainly a boost for Sassuolo’s bid to remain in Serie A.

The three points are the most important thing, as they take the Neroverdi within a few points of safety,

But just as important is the new injection of confidence.

It is going to be a chaotic scrap between multiple teams to determine who goes down and who stays up. There are at least five teams fighting for three spots – and to avoid the two relegation places.

And Sassuolo, despite their win over Inter, are still very much in the danger zone.

The club’s CEO Carnevali remarked that “Hope is the last thing to die.”

“We have to play the last three matches the same way we did against Inter,” he continued.

Carnevali predicted that “If we play like that, we can fight until the end. Even in a season that’s been anything but positive for us.”
