Cagliari have reportedly opted to maintain the services of Inter Milan youngster Gaetano Oristanio on a permanent basis.

The 21-year-old is an attacking midfielder who rose through the Nerazzurri’s youth ranks.

Last season, the club sent him on loan to Sardinia where he managed to collect decent playing time under the guidance of Claudio Ranieri.

The Italy U21 starlet made 27 appearances for the Rossoblu between Serie A and the Coppa Italia. He contributed with two goals and an assist.

According to La Nuova Sardegna via FcInterNews, Cagliari have decided to activate their option to buy Oristanio at the end of the season.

Therefore, the Isolani will pay 4 million euros for the Italian player.

This will be an important boost for the Nerazzurri’s coffers. After all, most accounts believe that the Italian champions are counting on their loaned-out youngsters to raise transfer funds.

This could also include the likes of Valentin Carboni and Martin Satriano.

Cagliari Opt To Activate Their Option To Buy Inter Milan Youngster Gaetano Oristanio

However, the source notes that Inter can still counter Cagliari’s move if they wish to bring back the player.

That’s because the Nerazzurri had inserted a buy-back option in their agreement with Cagliari. This would cost the Italian champions 6 million euros.

Oristanio is an attacking midfielder who can also play as a striker.

Before joining Cagliari in the summer, he spent the previous campaign on loan with FC Volendam in the Netherlands.

He has also represented the Italian national team through various age classes, beginning with Italy U17.
