Inter Milan are not yet out of the race to sign Atletico Madrid defender Mario Hermoso on a free transfer.

This according to French news outlet The outlet also report that the Nerazzurri still maintain an interest in signing Torino defender Alessandro Buongiorno.

Defender Hermoso is set to leave Atletico this summer.

The 29-year-old Spanish international’s contract with the Colchoneros expires at the end of the current month.

However, Hermoso has yet to decide on a club to join.

Naturally, the Spaniard is free to make his decision about his future, and negotiate with potential future clubs without Atletico’s involvement.

And a number of clubs in Europe have shown an interest in signing Hermoso.

Among these have been Premier League side Aston Villa, and Inter’s Serie A rivals Napoli.

And according to, Inter are still keeping tracking of Hermoso as a potential target.

The Nerazzurri’s propensity for free transfer signings is hardly a secret.

That is the route via which all of Hakan Calhanoglu, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Andre Onana, and Marcus Thuram arrived at Inter in the last few years.

And the Nerazzurri are going to make it two more big name free transfers this summer. Piotr Zielinski and Mehdi Taremi are also on their way.

And according to, Inter could make it three high profile free transfer signings this summer.

The French outlet report that the Nerazzurri have not yet dropped their interest in signing Atletico defender Hermoso. However, they are aware that there’s significant competition for the 29-year-old’s signature.

Hermoso does have experience in a back three at Atletico. That would make him a stylistically apt target for Inter.

Meanwhile, report, Inter are also continuing to view Torino defender Alessandro Buongiorno as a target in defense.
