Patience could prove to be the decisive advantage for Inter Milan in the race to sign Genoa forward Albert Gudmundsson this summer.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews.

Inter have identified Gudmundsson as an ideal target to reinforce their attack for next season.

The Nerazzurri have already secured one big arrival in attack. They will be bringing in Mehdi Taremi on a free transfer from Porto.

Meanwhile, Alexis Sanchez is headed for the exit door. The Chilean’s contract with Inter runs out at the end of this month – and Taremi is, numerically speaking, his replacement.

However, there is the sense that Inter want to bring Gudmundsson in to give the team a bit of a different option in attack.

The Icelandic international has a different profile than any of the strikers Inter already have.

Gudmundsson has the versatility to play as an attacking midfielder or second striker. He also has a capacity to dribble in tight spaces that marks him out from Inter’s attackers.

Patience The Advantage For Inter Milan In Albert Gudmundsson

Inter are far from the only club interested in Gudmundsson’s signature.

Serie A rivals Juventus have also shown an interest in the former AZ Alkmaar forward. Meanwhile, Tottneham Hotspur are keen to bring him to the Premier League.

But in the view of Tuttosport, Inter can wait it out.

Gudmundsson has already made his preference to join the Nerazzurri clear.

And Inter know the conditions they’ll need to sign the Icelander. Firstly, they would aim to sell Valentin Carboni – currently at the Copa America with Argentina.

Then, the Nerazzurri would have to offload Marko Arnautovic.

But there is no rush. Inter can wait and see how these two players’ situations develop.

Then, if it becomes possible, the Nerazzurri can make their move for Gudmundsson later in the transfer window.
