Genoa forward Albert Gudmundsson remains the “big target” for Inter Milan over the next two months.

Today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews, report that the Nerazzurri’s chase of the Icelandic international will more or less define their transfer window from here on out.

Inter have already done plenty of work on the transfer front despite the fact that today is the official opening of the transfer window in Serie A.

The Nerazzurri are bringing in Piotr Zielinski and Mehdi Taremi on free transfers. And Josep Martinez is soon to complete his move from Genoa.

Then, there is also the matter of keeping last season’s squad together.

Inter have already extended the contract of Nicolo Barella to ward off any interest this summer.

New deals for Simone Inzaghi and Lautaro Martinez should soon follow.

And then Inter will work to extend the contract of wingback Denzel Dumfries as well.

Albert Gudmundsson The “Big Target” For Inter Milan This Summer

Of course, there is still plenty for Inter to do this summer.

For one thing, if Dumfries does not sign a new deal then the Nerazzurri will aim to sell the Dutchman – and then move for a replacement.

And of course, there will be plenty of deals to make as far as loans for young players and the like.

Moreover, Inter could always make one or two surprise signings along the way. These could be in the vein of the Nerazzurri’s signing of Davy Klaassen from Ajax last summer.

But all of this pales in comparison to Inter’s pursuit of Gudmundsson as far as high-profile business goes.

Inter have marked the 26-year-old former AZ Alkmaar forward out as the perfect addition to their attack.

But Gudmundsson will not come cheap. Inter will have to put a lot of pieces into place in order to sign the Icelander.

There is no question that Inter want to sign Gudmundsson this summer. But there certainly is about whether or not they will pull it off.
