The agent of Tomas Palacios reveals how his client only had eyes for Inter Milan after learning about the club’s interest in his services.
The 21-year-old was the fourth and last signing to join Simone Inzaghi’s first team during the summer.
The Argentine completed a late-summer switch from Independiente Rivadavia. He has recently joined his new teammates in training, and his agent reveals he’s quickly adapting to life at Appiano Gentile.
“Everything is going very well. He is adapting to training, to the coach’s requests,” said Francisco Hernandez in his interview with FcInterNews.
“Tomas is working to get to his best physical shape, with the desire to be available to the coach as soon as possible.”
The agent reveals the Nerazzurri had been monitoring the young defender for months before eventually launching an onslaught.
“The Nerazzurri had been following him for a few months. Then, day after day, they began to delve deeper. And the surveys became a reality.
“Thank God, there was a happy ending. We are all truly happy to arrive in Italy, a beautiful country, in one of the best clubs in the world.”
Hernandez revealed Palacios’ delight when he found out Inter were interested in his services.
“It was an immese joy, a dream. And despite the interest of Boca, River and many European clubs among the most important in the world, when Tomas heard about Inter he told me to contact only and exclusively the Nerazzurri.
“He said ‘I want to play there, it’s my dream’. And told the same to the president of Independiente. Tomas only wanted Inter.”
Tomas Palacios Was Determined To Join Inter Milan
The agent explains the negotiations were complex because they involved three clubs. Palacios was on loan at Independiente Rivadavia from his original club Tallares.
“There were two clubs involved in the player’s transfer, Independiente and Talleres. There was a lot of hard work behind the scenes to get everyone to agree. This made everything more complex.
“For Tomas, however, it was clear that he only wanted to play for Inter. His dream was to play in Serie A.
“I thank the director Piero Ausilio and all the Inter staff who gave us peace of mind and were patient from the first moment.”
Hernandez reiterated his client’s admiration for Inter captain Lautaro Martinez. He also believes he’ll learn a lot from Alessandro Bastoni.
“As he himself revealed in his presentation with Inter, he particularly admires Lautaro Martinez. He is a point of reference for the Nerazzurri and the Argentine national team.
“Bastoni is doing very well both at Inter and with Italy, which makes him a point of reference for Tomas. And he will undoubtedly learn a lot from him.”
