Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi has decided to start Federico Dimarco and Denzel Dumfries on the flanks against AC Milan. This evening’s Serie A matchday 5 derby clash kicks off at 20.45 CET.
Today, Inter play their first of two derby matches against AC Milan in Serie A this season.
The derby is always a showpiece occasion in Italian football, regardless of the league table.
Moreover, this will be an early opportunity to Inter to make a big statement in their bid to retain the Serie A title.
Therefore, Inter coach Simone Inzaghi has gone with a strong starting eleven.
Firstly, in goal Yann Sommer keeps his place after starting every match so far this season.
Then, in defense there is one change from the team that drew away to Manchester City on Wednesday.
Benjamin Pavard replaces Yann Bisseck. Therefore, the Frenchman completes the back three alongside Alessandro Bastoni and Francesco Acerbi.
Dimarco & Dumfries Start At Wingback
In midfield, meanwhile, Inzaghi has gone with the trio of Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Hakan Calhanoglu, and Nicolo Barella.
Piotr Zielinski had started alongside Calhanoglu and Barella against City; however, Mkhitaryan completes the trio this time around.
Then, on the flanks Inzaghi has refreshed his team from the lineup against City.
Firstly, Federico Dimarco is back. The Italian international had missed the match against City due to injury, but is fit again and immediately back in the starting eleven.
Moreover, on the right Denzel Dumfries is making his first start of the season.
Therefore, Matteo Darmian starts on the bench for the first time in the campaign.
Lastly, in attack Inter captain Lautaro Martinez starts alongside Marcus Thuram.
Against City, Mehdi Taremi had started along Thuram amid concerns about Martinez’s fitness and form.
However, the captain is back into the lineup for the derby.
Meanwhile, in terms of injuries Inter are only missing Tajon Buchanan, who continues to work his way back to fitness following a serious leg break during the summer.
