AC Milan handed Inter Milan their first defeat of the season.
The Nerazzurri had won the last six editions of the derby against their city rivals. But they were outplayed and fell to a 2-1 loss in Serie A.
Milan went ahead early through Christian Pulisic. Then, Inter found a response as Federico Dimarco equalized.
In the second half, the Rossoneri had a few good chances to score.
But it was defender Matteo Gabbia who scored the winner for Milan in the end. He headed home in the closing stages.
As football stats account Opta pointed out in a tweet, the timing of Milan’s winner was very rare.
They tweeted, “Milan have won a derby against Inter from a level situation at the minute 89th of the game for the first time since 1999, thanks to a goal scored by George Weah in that case. Scream.”
