Wingback Denzel Dumfries will receive a significant wage increase when he signs a contract extension with Inter Milan.
Today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, report that the Dutchman’s earnings will rise to €4 million net per season once he signs the new deal.
Inter and Dumfries have been in contract extension talks for a number of months now.
The negotiations have had their ups and downs. In the spring, it had seemed as though the parties would not be able to reach an agreement on wages.
But then, over the summer, Dumfries made clear his desire to stay at Inter. And this looks to have pushed him to accept an offer from the Nerazzurri.
Inter, for their part, have always been clear in their stance.
Because Dumfries is currently only under contract with the Nerazzurri until the end of next June, the club have been wary of the risk of losing the Dutchman on a free transfer next summer.
That is what happened with defender Milan Skriniar in 2023.
But in spite of this, Inter neither sold Dumfries nor secured a new deal this summer.
Denzel Dumfries To Earn €4M Net/Season On New Inter Milan Contract
Inter have not been too worried about the situation despite the lack of a signature from Dumfries on a new contract, however.
And according to the Gazzetta, the 28-year-old will sign a new deal imminently.
The newspaper report that the wage increase that Dumfries receives will bump up his earnings to €4 million net per season.
That is right around in line with what the Dutchman’s fellow wingback Federico Dimarco earns.
And the total cost of Dumfries’s wages on the new deal will be €5.2 million gross per season for Inter.
The Gazzetta report that Dumfries will commit his future to Inter until the end of June 2028.
