Juventus could make a shock move for PSG defender Milan Skriniar despite his past playing for rivals Inter Milan.
This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews. They report that the 29-year-old could be a surprise solution following a serious injury for defender Bremer.
At the moment, Juventus are reeling from the loss of defender Bremer.
The Brazilian international suffered a serious knee injury during the Bianconeri’s Champions League clash with RB Leipzig. He is expected to be out for the remainder of the season after rupturing his ACL.
This leaves Juventus looking very thin on the ground in defense.
Federico Gatti, Pierre Kalulu, and Danilo are the main options for Bianconeri coach Thiago Motta at centre-back. And then, young right-back Niccolo Savona can also deputize in the centre of defense.
But it looks virtually certain that Juventus will dip into the market for an emergency solution in January.
The Bianconeri have not decided to sign a free agent as of yet. But it is hardly likely that they will face the entirety of the rest of the season fighting on multiple fronts in their current state.
Juventus Could Move For PSG Outcast Milan Skriniar Despite Inter Past
Naturally, Juventus will have to hunt for opportunities for a player who is both available in January and would meet their needs.
And Skriniar, on paper, could be exactly that.
It is no secret that Paris Saint-Germain are looking to offload the former Sampdoria defender.
Skriniar is not in favour with PSG coach Luis Enrique. And he admitted that he’s “not happy” in his current situation.
But Skriniar is certainly a defender who is proven in Serie A.
The Slovakian was one of the Italian top flight’s outstanding defenders across six seasons with Inter.
Therefore, on paper, a move for Skriniar to Juventus would make perfect sense.
But one group of people who would not be too pleased to see the Slovakian in a Bianconeri shirt would be Inter fans.
Skriniar already made the controversial decision to leave Inter on a free transfer.
The Slovakian was a player who had even been wearing the captain’s armband for a spell. He had enjoyed a strong connection with Inter supporters.
But Skriniar could very well end up playing for Inter’s bitter Derby d’Italia rivals Juventus.
