Inter Milan manager Simone Inzaghi has delivered an update on a midfield emergency ahead of tonight’s clash against Young Boys.
During his pre-match chat with Prime, as reported by FCInterNews, the Nerazzurri boss addressed the midfield crisis caused by several injury setbacks.
Lautaro Martinez bagged a winner to inspire the reigning Scudetto holders to a morale-boosting 1-0 win at Roma last weekend.
However, Inter paid a hefty price for leaving the Stadio Olimpico with three points.
A congested fixture schedule took its toll on Hakan Calhanoglu and Francesco Acerbi.
Indeed, both first-team stalwarts had to leave the pitch inside the opening 30 minutes with injuries.
Calhanoglu picked up a thigh problem only 12 minutes into the game, forcing Simone Inzaghi to sub him off.
As for Acerbi, he left the field in the 27th minute for a hamstring issue, with Stefan de Vrij taking his place.
With injury concerns piling up, Inzaghi will likely have to make several formation tweaks in Bern.

Nicolo Barella is the chosen candidate to replace Calhanoglu against Young Boys.
Piotr Zielinski was also in the mix. But Inzaghi will likely proceed with the Italian star.
“We had problems in the same role,” the Inter boss said.
“We will evaluate Zielinski today. Calhanoglu and Asllani will not be there, as well as Buchanan.
“But those who are here will make a contribution, including the two Primavera players.”
Inter will face a rare prospect of playing on an artificial pitch in Bern.
“The synthetic pitch? It had never happened to us in the Champions League but we knew it from the draw,” Inzaghi stated.
“We did the finishing touches here.”
Despite all the hiccups, Inter should comfortably take three points at the Stadio Wankdorf.
It would be the ultimate confidence booster ahead of Sunday’s Derby d’Italia against Juventus.
