Spezia defender Nicolo Bertola is on Inter Milan’s radar, but he is “not a priority” for the Nerazzurri in the transfer market.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews.

21-year-old defender Nicolo Bertola has enjoyed a very strong start to the season.

Bertola has been a key part of the Spezia defense that has put the Ligurians in serious contention for promotion to Serie A.

Spezia are currently second in the Serie B table. They have taken thirty points so far this campaign, sitting just a point behind league leaders Sassuolo.

And Bertola has more than played his part in this success.

Spezia Defender Nicolo Bertola “Not A Priority” For Inter

Unfortunately for Spezia, Bertola’s contract is currently set to run out at the end of next June.

The Ligurians are aiming to convince the 21-year-old to sign a new deal.

Spezia are offering an extension containing a wage increase to 350,000 net per season. This would go up to 550,000 net per season plus add-ons in the event of promotion to Serie A.

According to Tuttosport, Bertola’s response is not expected imminently.

Spezia may have to wait until the end of December to receive a response to their offer.

In the meantime, Inter are eyeing up Bertola. The Nerazzurri are aiming to focus on building around young players, particularly in defense.

Inter Assistant Sporting Director Dario Baccin has been in talks with Spezia Sporting Director Stefano Melissano about Bertola’s situation.

Inter’s intention could be to sign Bertola and then loan him back to Spezia next season.

In any event, though, Tuttosport report that Bertola is “not a priority target” for Inter.

Meanwhile, Torino and Bologna are also eyeing up the 21-year-old defender.
