Tajon Buchanan is ready to bolster Inter Milan’s squad depth after the Nerazzurri lost Benjamin Pavard to an injury.
Today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews, highlight the important role for the Canadian international after Pavard’s injury.
Defender Pavard will be on the sidelines for a few weeks after picking up a thigh strain.
This constitutes something of a headache for Inter coach Simone Inzaghi.
Pavard’s absence means that Yann Bisseck and Matteo Darmian are the main options to start on the right of Inter’s back three.
But Darmian is also a key alternative to Denzel Dumfries at right-wingback.
And Bisseck has become a regular on the left of Inter’s back three this season. This has allowed Carlos Augusto to play more at wingback, providing another option to Federico Dimarco.
Tajon Buchanan Bolsters Inter Depth In Pavard Absence
The versatility of many players in Inter’s squad and of Inzaghi’s system means that there is a certain delicate balance at play.
But the absence of a player like Pavard can quickly disrupt that balance.
However, there is yet another versatile wide player who Inzaghi can count on.
Canadian international Buchanan has been back from injury for around a month now.
The 25-year-old can play on the left, as another option to Augusto and Dimarco. He’s mostly played there for Inter in fact.
But Buchanan is also right-footed, and made his return off the bench on that flank.
Therefore, the Canadian can also back up Darmian and Dumfries on the right.
