Fiorentina defender Pietro Comuzzo is top of Inter Milan’s three-defender shortlist to replace Francesco Acerbi and Stefan de Vrij.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews. They also name Nicola Bertola and Marco Di Cesare as potential targets for the Nerazzurri.

Inter are currently relying on Acerbi and de Vrij as the two pillars at the centre of their back three.

The ex-Lazio duo have managed to hold down the role this season.

But both Acerbi and de Vrij are now well into their thirties.

And the recurring injury woes of Acerbi underline the fact that the pair’s age and fitness is making them increasingly unreliable.

Therefore, there is no doubt that signing a long-term replacement at the centre of the back three is a priority for Inter.

Fiorentina Breakout Star Pietro Comuzzo Tops Inter Three-Defender Shortlist

Inter will want to sign a young defender to inherit Acerbi and de Vrij’s mantle, naturally.

And according to Tuttosport, Fiorentina defender Pietro Comuzzo is the player who checks all of the Nerazzurri’s boxes.

The 21-year-old is enjoying a blazing season in Serie A under Raffaele Palladino.

However, there are two less proven names who Inter are also monitoring as potential options.

One is Spezia defender Nicolo Bertola. The 21-year-old’s current contract with Spezia runs out at the end of next June, and he could be a big free transfer opportunity.

Then, Tuittosport reports, Racing Club defender Marco Di Cesare has also been impressing Inter.
