Beppe Marotta must convince Oaktree Capital to loosen the purse strings at Inter Milan in the summer transfer window.
This is the view of Italian newspaper La Repubblica, via FCInter1908. They suggest that the Nerazzurri will have to spend in the summer if they are to keep up at the top of the Serie A table.
In the last couple transfer windows, Inter have not been terribly active.
Having radically overhauled the squad in the summer of 2023, it has just been fine-tuning ever since.
Last summer, Inter continued their penchant for free transfer signings. They signed the likes of Mehdi Taremi and Piotr Zielinski to bolster the squad depth.
Meanwhile, the likes of Josep Martinez, Tomas Palacios, and Nicola Zalewski have arrived. These are clear indications of Oaktree’s intention to focus on young signings.
On the other hand, Palacios left on loan in January. As did Tajon Buchanan, who had only joined Inter last January.
Therefore, Inter’s squad has become very settled. Arguably too much so – particularly for the medium-term future.
Marotta Must Convince Oaktree To Sanction Summer Spending At Inter Milan
In the meantime, Inter’s rivals at the top end of the Serie A table have not been shy about spending.
Juventus and AC Milan in particular have splashed the cash to improve their squads. But so have the likes of Atalanta, Napoli, Lazio, and Roma.

Sooner or later, those rivals could really start to close the gap on Inter.
So the Nerazzurri certainly must think about the future. They need to freshen up an aging squad, and not just with players with unrealized potential.
Inter have already wrapped up a deal to sign Petar Sucic from Dinamo Zagreb. The Croat will arrive next summer.
That shows the kind of business that the Nerazzurri are planning to do moving forward.
But that is only one signing. Inter will need more than that.
Therefore, it will be up to Inter President Beppe Marotta to convince club owners Oaktree Capital to commit to some big business over the coming months.
If the coach has to rely on subs like Asllani, Taremi and Arnautovic then that means improvement is needed but to be honest it starts with the coach not playing those said players unless it’s absolutely necessary yet someone like Asllani is ahead of Zielińsk in the players ranking. It does make sense for Taremi and Arna since Inter don’t have decent backups but for Asllani it’s just shooting yourself in the foot. The defence still needs a few starting players but at this forward players is a must or else it’d be hard for Inter to compete next season
it is extremely frustrating to watch Milan sign quality player after quality player and juve spends 150 mil this summer alone and the only purchase we made as serie a champions is a 20 Spanish backup gk
what do they expect from Inzaghi and Marotta? ffs give them the money they ask for and you will see miracles in this team
The most stupid fan in the history… We are +8 from Juve and +13 from Milan and if we beat Fiorentina we add an extra 3 points… We compete for the title and Juve and Milan just for a Champions League place and most probably one of them they gonna miss out… Plus we qualify directly for the next round of CL while Juve and Milan need 2 extra games each to be there, IF they gonna be there
Napoli are ahead of us
He haven’t won in all 3 games against Milan this year
Juve humiliated us in our crib and you still think we don’t need to sign players? instead of throwing insults maybe you should wipe the sand in your vagina that makes you this dumb
How in the world could you put “TAREMI” on that list??? you have a great asset & bring him in mostly for 5_15 mins & expect miracle?? i bet you if he had the time , support & opportunities like Thuram & Lautaro, he’d have done way better than both of them combined!!! instead, you MUST give him way more playing time & asked the team to pass the ball to him & play as a team!! then you’ll see the results!! even if you’ve had any best player in your team & place him on the bench , how could he help the team or score??? that’s so unfair, brutal & scandalous!! he deserves way more playing time, respect & help from the team!! DON’T you forget that he was the best & top scorer of Portugal league 2 years in a row & Puskas nominee for his bicycle goal vs Chelsea!!! he definitely didn’t do it all by playing 5_10 mins, did he??? appreciate what you have & be fare!!!!!!
“Sooner or later, those rivals could really start to close the gap on Inter.”
They have already started. Napoli are ahead of us in the Serie A, albeit it is their only competition to focus on. Milan, in 3 games we could not beat them even for once.
“So the Nerazzurri certainly must think about the future. They need to freshen up an aging squad, and not just with players with unrealized potential.”
Indeed. We need established players at peak age, not only raw talent and cheap veterans.
But before that we beat them 6 times in a row… Do you forget that??
You talk for the past, I talk for the present.
If it is not crystal clear to Oaktree that an infusion of real purchases be made then Inter will fall behind Milan, Juve and others as they spend for players. Frankly, Milan’s squad is more exciting and dynamic today than Inter’s. Problems are ahead
Indeed, Milan and Juve are spending. Napoli too might have the money of Kvara&Osimhen to spend in the summer. Unless serious spending, not free or cheap transfers, is done in the summer, I don’t see how we can keep up with the others.
For me inter squad is already better than others, no need to spend like them. But the bench still need a little work. Especially for mid and forward. The quality gap is too big and causing the first team played too much.
Fratessi, mikhy, aslanny, arna and taremi need to be replaced asap. So the first team can get proper rest.
We don’t need to spend like them, but still serious spending is needed, i.e. quality over quantity.
Mikhi is OK and should stay. At his age, his role should be to serve as a bench option, to come in when experience and maturity are needed. The issue with him is that he is being started in almost every game, which is too much for someone at his age.
Frattesi, Asllani and Arna indeed are not Inter material; they can offer too little for our ambitions.
You are very correct, if Taremi is a good player, Thuram shouldn’t have started that match against Fiorentina bcos the fatigue is really showing on him.
:)))))))))))))Milan are more exciting and dynamic :))))))))))))))))) they are 7 in the league and most probably they not gonna be in CL next season….
Being in CL is not definitive of success, see Napoli this season. Milan is younger, faster and honestly more fun to watch. (their defense is garbage though for sure) Inter lack speed at every single position. Having the likes of Leao and Pulisic running at Pavard, Bisseck, Acerbi, Bastoni is not a good look for Inter.
