Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi has decided to start Mehdi Taremi in attack against Juventus. This evening’s Serie A matchday 25 clash kicks off at 20.45 CET.
This evening, Inter take on Juventus in the second Derby d’Italia of the season. The last time that the Nerazzurri and the Bianconeri met, it was a wild 4-4 draw.
For Inter, this evening is a chance to go ahead of Napoli in the table after the league leaders slipped up away to Lazio yesterday.
Meanwhile, Juventus can go ahead of the Biancocelesti in fourth spot in the table after yesterday’s result.
Moreover, the Derby d’Italia is always a charged match owing to the historic and bitter rivalry between the two teams.
Therefore, it is little surprise to see Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi name a strong starting eleven.
However, there is one notable name absent from the teamsheet in attack.
Mehdi Taremi Starts In Attack – Marcus Thuram On The Bench
Striker Marcus Thuram is not quite fit to start for Inter. The Frenchman has yet to shake off an ankle knock that he suffered in last Thursday’s 2-1 win over Fiorentina.
Therefore, Thuram is only on the bench for this evening’s match.

Accordingly, it is Mehdi Taremi who starts for Inter. The Iranian international leads the line alongside Nerazzurri captain Lautaro Martinez.
Otherwise, though, there are few surprises.
Firstly, Yann Sommer continues his run of starting every match in Serie A this season.
Then, in defense Francesco Acerbi gets the nod ahead of Stefan de Vrij after his excellent performance against Fiorentina last Monday.
Flanking Acerbi in the back three are Benjamin Pavard and Alessandro Bastoni.
Meanwhile, in midfield it’s the usual trio of Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Hakan Calhanoglu, and Nicolo Barella.
Lastly, on the flanks Federico Dimarco and Denzel Dumfries start, having both been absent against Fiorentina due to illness and suspension respectively.

ran inter, i saw it too, sometimes i wonder what the cacio(serie a) are projecting to the world – reward for senseless tackle!
on the other hand, i have come to realize that our strklers are selfish; always eager to score and become world best. an example was in the final of the champ. league, which is stll regrettable as we speak. and dont forget the final btw france and argentina when kolo muani refused to square the ball to mbape who was in the right position to score. pls teach these players how to be unselfish, becausn some day it might be the team’s only chance in that game.
Another thing is today when McKennzie stepped over Bastoni’s ankle and twisted, ref is not even giving a yellow card. But in La liga, Betis vs Socidad, Becker did the same thing and he was red card sent off. I am so confused with serie A refs.
inzaghi is just to nice to juv in all their encounter,at san siro they were simply generous to juv .sorry! no plan b and inter need skillful and fast players to overturn result.
This summer oaktree needs to start investing in young players to keep up with this other clubs or we’re going get left behind. I get they want to invest in our primavera but when we don’t even promote any of them to our senior squad then what’s the point.
Well Sucic will come. We were always lucky with Croatian talents in past decades 🙂
Agreed, without a partial rebuild (3, 4 or even 5 quality siginings), we are doomed to be left behind. Juve and Milan are investing, and Napoli will presumably have the money of Osimhen&Kvara to spend. The ship can’t keep going forever with free and bargain transfers.
I can see juve and Milan investments.. One in on 4th the other on 7th position
You will see soon enough if the club management doesn’t start to invest seriously.
Mkhitarian just isn’t a player for starting… Putting Corea in as a match turner ? For real ?
Those subs were awful. First blame Inzaghi, but also we missed too many chances. Lautaro loses himself in big games very often and Taremi is mediocre since he joined. Saddest part is, a manager that doesn’t have a second plan, it’s just obvious unfotunately
I think Inter was better . but in first half.
in second you can see that different of freshment in juventus.
juventus is now dangerous specially if they going to buy fine players…
I think the first half was good. Wasteful but good.
But something changed in the second half. Low energy, extremely unprecise, and generally bad decision making by our boys. The subs were odd as well. I would have kept bastoni on. When it comes to Taremi, I really believed that he could do us good, but I see that he is clearly not Inter material. My question is why Inzaghi dont try out Fratesi as a AM, or par up with Martinez. We need to get that killer instinct and kill off games.
Agree. First half is not bad, just wasted too many chances.
I have complaing since summer, and some stupid people calle me Juve or Milan fan! Now open your eyes and see your stupidity! at least admit it! this team has no power! no syrength !we had lost it in the summer not now! it is not ok with me to lose it to Juve!but I can accept it , these are the games you cannot count on , since it was in their home!BUT we lost sooooo many points in milan , this is gonna kill us as it is doing now, and you have more with Atalanta and Napoli! this team desrves at most to be in top 4, no more! and we are lucky for that , you know why!
+1.
When I said on this site’s comments, at some point towards the end of the last season, that other teams were learning how to play us and we were becoming predictable, I got dislikes and were told to “calm down”. The writing was on the wall.
Long time ago I said Napoli will win Scudetto, but I got negative votes. 😛 And it’s not surprise loss. Historicaly Inter always have bad results against Juve. Now go as far as possible in UCL for some money and try to win Coppa Italia.
With Conte and no Europe, indeed. The issue of becoming predictable in our style of play was becoming evident some time towards the end of the last season. I blame Inzaghi, but also I blame the club management who did not provide funds for a better transfer strategy, beyond the free transfers.
the comment section here is so boring and disgusting. bring back discus. is oaktree running this website too.?
well deserved loss for sloppy finishing. we had the chances to go 3-0 up by half time. toro, barella, dimarco, chala are just too tired. we really needed reinforcements in the winter. this is going to come bite us in the bum. I don’t know why inzaghi takes this so lightly. i won’t be suprised he leaves to Tottenham in the summer as well. thanks oaktree.
I think last chance will be against Napoli. If we cant win, then it will be the end of title race.
Dimarco and Bastoni out at the same time. Just why. That’s what you get tho
Bastoni never players 90 minutes. Honestly, I would sell him for the money and buy some quick, fast skillful players at once
sell useless Lautaro! Many times I said he is just overrated!!!big name, just name!
I don’t know why Inzaghi didn’t sup Lautaro he was useless through out the game that’s why he sits on the bench at the national team. And I don’t know why our players always they seem to be tired what’s going on they should check how they train and also their diet.We lost the game because of tiredness in the second half prior to the goal our players were so tired they couldn’t run given Juve too much space to move the ball what ever they like that leads to the goal.We should blame ourselves for the lost.
Main Inter problem this year is INZAGHI and this stubborn attitude of his. We need a plan B but even while losing we stick with a 3-5-2 INSANE!!!
Lautaro will be the scapegoat.
But our season is quickly going the way of this comments section,
Hakan is not the same player since his latest injury.
Not sure why but too many players are coasting.
Juve just wanted it more today. And it shows if you buy young, fast, tricky skillful players you score goals.
We have zero investment and everyone around us is getting A LOT better.
And these games are proving my theory about inzaghi – he has no plan B. He can’t influence games. He just makes subs for the sake of making subs.
It’s not over yet but it will be soon if we don’t get a grip.
Toro will be the scapegoat for certain. However, the entire team looked awful and was outplayed badly. Dumfries of all people was our best player by far. Juve will be very good moving forward. If Inter simply decides to not spend money it will be another 3-4 years to rise again. Scudetto this season still within reach but then a total overall will be necessary. A week off and this performance is shameful. I blame the players more than the Coach, but Inzaghi is certainly not blameless.
I think we need to stop blaming inzaghi for everything. this team needed proper reinforcements..we can’t be going through every transfer season seeing merdentus, bilan, atalanta even fiorentina and como strengthen while we rely on our same starting 11 for every match every 3 days. I can imagine if our starting 11 were 24 year olds.. that being said we had the opportunity to go 3 up by half time had it not been for dreadful finishing by toro, and dumfries’.
Nope when you take two of your best players playing in one side like DImarco and Bastoni it means you want to lose control of the match. Juve players were actually more tired than Inter. Inzaghi does get the blame here and regarding missing chances its just something Inter do because they can create a lot of chances and only score a few
When you say “young, fast, tricky skillful players ”
I remember Zalewsky. Or even Tajon and Fratessi. Dumfries is also fast. Even Thuram.
This game is affected by many factors. Our Hakan was not at his best. The same can be said for Thuram and Acerbi after their injury. Bastoni and Di Marco can not play a full match after so many games this season. It is just not about Inzaghi. I believe if we had another coach with these same players, we would end up at rank 8 or 9 in the league.
Even lord doremi was actually better, at least he shot on target.
Exactly there’s no doubt about Bastoni and Dimarco being the best players in the league in their position and yet when only taking Taremi was needed he subbed out both to replace them with players who are not a threat. Juve only needed to be lucky to get a goal and play dirty and that’s what they did. For a match like that with clear time wasting 4 minutes of additional time is simply criminal and it’ll be the tactics for Napoli as well. They know Inzaghi has the tendency to over think things and try to thing of the next match even when one isn’t going in his favour. Taremi was doing nothing in the second half but in his head it was Dimarco and Bastoni’s fault in that moment Inter completely lost control because there’s no outlet on the left and Dumfries was being covered heavily. Inzaghi does have a plan B which is plan A with different players and that worked well in the past the problem was always the case ever since he was at Lazio he has a tendency to take out key players in big matches and try to act smart not knowing in a derby big players will have an extra gear. Now team will only focus on stopping Inter in the first half because in the second an impulsion usually happens especially in big matches
lucky that we have Sommer, otherwise it would be 2:0
To be honest Inter does not deserve a draw.
So we have plenty of chances, but not able to score…….
Why did Correa just stand there when he lost the ball instead of pressing back
let me try to answer: because he is a sh*t player that we couldn’t offload in summer. now he is our problem
this has been the worst performance for lautaro martinez in an inter shirt
the difference between the teams is that they have attackers who can score, and midfielders who can cut through space
Bye Bye Scudetto. No cup this year, save my words. Bye
Bye
Bro I said the same in summer! and stupid people called me Juve fan, Milan fan, etc.
The main Inter problem this year: FORWARD.
not inzaghi’s fault when the management cannot get 1 decent striker !!!
Of course the ref ain’t going to call that pull like he did to us.
Clown ref such a clown ref!!!!!!!!!!!!
What a miss by Lauti????????? What is wrong with him today? Did he played too many games in this week????????????
his problem is that he has nobody to sub him, no competition, he is not a hungry bull, he is now a cattle
Just shoot
Still no Thuram what is Taremi even doing in the second half
Not a even yellow card????????????!!!!!!!!!!!!
lautaro should have been sold dor 3 players
He is very sad to see to see a player in his magnitude those opportunities.
if arsenal come with three figures, I think we need to let him go. we can use that to get castro, paz ricci.
That was a big intense first half, just can’t believe we missed those easy chances we better come back stronger and put Napoli behind us.
lautaro missed that sitter… he is our highest paid player, right?
kenan yildiz will be a big threat in 2nd half. He is too fast and clinical for our “fathers of football” in our defense. lol
Lautaro needs to be more precise not just power
I think he needs work on his mental strength. He is not powerful inside enough.
Whatever the guys won literally everything.
Stepped up for sudden death pen in the World Cup semi. But yeah not mentally strong
He has missed a few chances today.
But he’s been on a tear recently
Get off his back ffs
wasteful
we wasted more chances. hopefully won’t regret that
We will definitely regret
so far Dumfries is our best attacker
100%
Ok seriously, WTF is that fcking shot????????
please bring back disquss
The comment section used to be one the good things about this website but for some reason it’s gone and the current comment is hopefully not the REPLACEMENT because it feels like 2002
bring bacm disqus PLEASE!
Hey!
We’re not bringing back Disqus BUT we are working on making comments live especially during matches.
Why trying to fix what was not broken?
It absolutely was broken. Otherwise we wouldnt have made the change. Believe me when I say that I am absolutely not happy with this situation.
This commenting system is buns. We need a better comment section. I don’t even have the pleasure to piss people off during our matches anymore (it’s sad). I can’t even use emojis when I’m making comments either. what’s up with that? Also why is it taking so long to implement a system similar to disqus or YouTube comment section. Disqus was a bit buggy but it compiled all your comments and upvotes in one place and also was able to display emojis.
Continually saying it was broken, or “not working for us” without actually giving a reason kinda stinks
You’re risking the entire site dying because of zero transparency.
Just be upfront and say what the problem was and what the timeline is for a “fix” new solution.
any update on restoring access via disquss? current commenting method is horrible tbf
Hey!
We’re not bringing back Disqus BUT we are working on making comments live especially during matches.
we miss the up votes, down votes, emojis etc.
Barella is invincible and Lautaro can’t be trusted even an empty net he will find a way to skyrocket and miss
That was hard not to even hit the target. Damn what a miss from Lautaro
laurato is back to his default setting lol
Lauti comon Lauti!!!!!!!!!! What a cross by Dumfries……COMON
I don’t agree with you we’re not strong enough to win the league by ourselves unless some of the teams help us by beating or draw with Napoli like what yesterday Lazio did for us.
Let’s destroy them and show the rest of the league the Scudetto is ours
A 6-0 like with Lazio will be nice
Please God!! Juve are the only team Inzaghi’s Inter have not smashed.
I don’t agree with you we’re not strong enough to win the league by ourselves unless some of the teams help us by beating or draw with Napoli like what yesterday Lazio did for us.
Big Chance to take top spot tonight!! Got to take advantage of Napolis wobble, and put the pressure on them to chase us!! Great to have Dumfries and DiMarco back on the flanks! Hopefully Thuram has at least 25 minutes in him if needed!!
Juve are a mess this season, and should never have got a draw at the Meazza… Time to put that right!! FORZA INTER!!!
Bastoni is a card away from suspension,so is a must to take it now to be available against Napoli
Agreed. Better he rests vs Genoa next week
Looks like Juv is pretty confident about their champions league game next week. Hope they dont blow it. lol.
Which they shouldnt be. PSV caused them all sorts of problems. Hopefully they are tired tonight
kenan yildiz will be a big threat in 2nd half. He is too fast and clinical for our fathers of football in our defense
