Denzel Dumfries admits that a draw against Napoli was “not the result Inter Milan wanted” but still a good point.
The Dutchman spoke to InterTV, via FCInterNews, at the end of the 1-1 Serie A draw.
Inter Milan came close to extending their lead at the top of the Serie A table to four points this evening.
Heading into the final minutes of their Serie A match away to Napoli, the Nerazzurri were 1-0 up. That came courtesy of a brilliant first half free kick by Federico Dimarco.
After that, and particularly in the second half, Inter were really holding on and defending their advantage.
By and large, the Nerazzurri’s defending of their penalty was close to flawless.
However, late on in the match, Napoli substitute Phillip Billing managed to score to grab a point for the Partenopei that could play a huge role in the title race.
Inter had to give everything in today’s match. And evidently the fatigue began to tell.
Dumfries: Napoli 1-1 Inter Milan “Not The Result We Wanted, But A Good Point”
After the match, Inter Milan wingback Denzel Dumfries said that “It was a tough match, especially in the second half.”
“But I’m proud of what the team did,” he continued.

“It wasn’t easy. But we gave our all. And the 1-1 draw is a good result.”
“I knew from the start that it was an important match,” Dumfries said. “And in a match between title contenders, you know their fans are going to boo you a lot.”
“But as I said I’m very proud of what we did today. Because it wasn’t easy, but we suffered and gave everything.”
Meanwhile, Dumfries also gave his thoughts on playing as an emergency left-wingback.
“We’ve had a lot of misfortune with injuries,” he noted. “So we need to help the team as much as we can.”
“I’m fine playing on the left,” Dumfries added. “I can do whatever the team needs.”
