Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi has decided to start Marcus Thuram in attack and Yann Bisseck in defense against Napoli. This evening’s Serie A matchday 27 clash kicks off at 18.00 CET.
Inter Milan take on Napoli in Serie A this evening at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona. And there is the feel of a potential title-decider to this evening’s match.
Inter go into the match just one point ahead of Napoli at the top of the table. Therefore, this evening’s encounter could be a turning point in the race for the Scudetto.
Accordingly, Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi has gone with a very strong starting eleven.
Thuram Back In The Inter Milan Starting XI For Napoli Clash
The most notable name on the Inter teamsheet is that of striker Marcus Thuram.
There had been big fitness doubts around the Frenchman, as he had missed Inter’s last two matches with an ankle injury.

However, Thuram has returned to fitness – and to the Nerazzurri starting eleven.
Therefore, the Frenchman partners Inter captain Lautaro Martinez in the first-choice strike pairing.
Meanwhile, in goal another notable name is that of Josep Martinez.
However, Martinez’s inclusion is hardly a surprise – he has started in each of Inter’s last two matches due to a thumb injury to Yann Sommer.
Yann Bisseck Gets The Nod In Defense
Then in the back three there’s another significant inclusion.
Yann Bisseck starts on the right of Inter’s back three – accordingly, former Bayern Munich defender Benjamin Pavard drops to the bench.

Meanwhile, Francesco Acerbi and Alessandro Bastoni complete the back three alongside Bisseck.
In midfield, then, it is the usual starting trio of Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Hakan Calhanoglu, and Nicolo Barella.
Lastly, on the flanks Inzaghi has had his hand forced. An injury crisis means that Federico Dimarco and Denzel Dumfries are the only senior wingbacks available, so both start.
All of Matteo Darmian, Carlos Augusto, and Nicola Zalewski are unavailable.
On the bench, Piotr Zielinski is ready to make his first start against his former team Napoli at the Maradona.

We have been playing poorly for four games what’s wrong with the team.
With this Napoli game we played very bad conceding Corner left and right and Inzaghi sitting there doing nothing Inzaghi should backup you can’t use this poor performance to win a league. Our fitness coach needs to be sack after this season.
Ref was so annoying, literally helping Napoli on any slightly touch, it felt like they were made of thin paper.
The referee had no bearing on the performance. Blame the team, the staff, credit Napoli but the officiating was equally poor for both teams
playing frattesi and substituting basto is changing our defense solidity, while didn’t strengthen our attack at all.
better adding more defense instead of frattesi at that time.
anyway, it’s not a lost, napoli can be defeated by other weaker team. one thing we should do is keeping our winning consistency after all. forza inter!
Not a terrible result,
but another terrible performance.
I would worry about other bad performances, but not this one. They are our direct rivals who play once a week, while we play every three days. Such things can make a big difference.
It’s a rational excuse or reason but it was easily their worst appearance in years (including the debacle v Fio weeks ago) Our schedule is far more tricky than Napoli’s
Yes, especially given that we have the UCL and Coppa Italia too. But when was the last time Napoli won a game? We have weaknesses, they have too. I hope theirs are bigger.
VERY fortunate point. Napoli played more desperately. Once Dimarco went off Inter stopped playing. Lacking options due to injury may have been why they parked a broken down bus. If it had worked, we would all be happy, but it didn’t. Bastoni being taken off every game must stop. Makes no sense he cannot play 90+ minutes. What would he do if there were only 3 subs allowed? An away point to Napoli is historically good of late so let’s move on. Much more to play for.
this is what happens when our management is busy strengthening the primavera rather than the first team.
Martinez made some good saves! I like what I see.. he just needs to improve with the ball at his feet! reflexes and handling of the ball are top notch!
we were going to beat Napoli with contes tactics.. on the grand scheme of things a fair result, given that we were playing with an injured team that played mid week against 12 men.
we were doing fine till the whole defence was jumbled up.
my only worry is this was napolis last big match, we have two more!
Napoli problem tho is that they really can’t do much against weaker teams. Records shows they dropped more points against those oppositions and will continue to do so. Inter must be winning matches they are suppose to win while the injury situations gets better
Amen to that. I do not worry as much of Napoli as much as I do of our nerazzuri cousins! Atalanta with gasperinis swansong have a point to prove.
Atalanta couldn’t win against Venezia when Inter and Napoli are playing each other. They too are very unpredictable. Inter now must win matches but I don’t think it’ll be pretty
I hoped we would win, obviously, but this is a good result too. The game was not equal from the beginning, because they play once a week and our guys play every three days. They had a full week to prepare and come in with fresh legs.
Yeah it was clear Inter just wanted NOT to lose. That way you risk conceding a crazy goal. But this Napoli team WILL drop points against smaller teams
Agreed. The last time Napoli won a game was ages ago.
Basto needs to be playing 90 mins!!! Wtf is wrong with Inzaghi
Both Basto and Dimarco struggle to play entire match for Inter and can’t tell why
Conceeding late goals is a sign of weak mentality.
A Napoli team without a win in 4, and outside of DiMarco’s moment of beauty, we haven’t had a single shot on goal… absolute sh*te!!!
That happens when you don’t park the bus. 🙁
Lautaro just threw everything he had to save us
Why does it take this?
He shouldn’t even need to be back there….ffs
Since first 20 against Monaco we have been terrible, like absolute shower of sh*t bad!
All of you inzaghi lovers – he needs to start proving you right because taking Bastoni off today was absolute nonsense!
I’d have taken a draw before the game but when you can see it coming and he doesn’t do anything to stop it …. Is that a master?!
chill buddy.. chala, thuram, basto, di Marco all are playing with injuries. we have feyenoord coming up and our stingy management has not strengthened the team in winter. Inzaghi can only work with what he has on the bench. this Napoli apart from that unfortunate rebound could not do anything with the possession.
I told you 1-1 and Napoli may even win it.
unlucky from Martinez, but this is what you get when you shut down after 20 minutes! WTF is wrong with our mentality this season?!? Winners try to win!! We don’t deserve to on this showing….
No 45 minutes not 20 minutes
I meant after 20 minutes in the first half!
Agree. The mentality has been lacking from the very beginning of the season. We struggle no matter what kind of team we face. Either they park the bus or the press us high, Like today Napoli shuts down our strikers, midfield and wingbacks. We struggle with the same things whole season. Lack of pace with the ball, sloppy passes and easy give aways, not to mention the fact that teams just pass our midfield for free. We act like scared boys….
I wonder if Inzaghi is still the right option for us. Dont get me wrong, I was very happy when he arrived, but I am sitting with the impression that there is no progress within the team. We are struggling with the same things since his arrival.
When will he learn to stop taking off basto late.
I keep saying bisseck isn’t good enough yet.
It has been coming for 65 mins, can’t say we deserve anything from this game tbh
Agree Paulo. Hope for one point and play out the rest of the schedule winning hopefully.
That was inevitable. Hope we can hold on for a point
1-0 is not enough,
Of course, thats what happens. Every time we take basto off with one goal lead
LOVE an explanation as to why Bastoni cannot play 90 minutes, ever!?
Bastoni and Dimarco always struggle to play 90 mins for Inter. They play whole match for Italy though.
I hate when we have de vrij and Acerbi playing together
this is true. both are adept to playing the centre of midfield 3. with both on it just causes confusion.
Has Inzaghi told the guys to park the bus or are Napoli too strong for us to play a more attacking game; I am not able to figure this out.
inzaghi’s plan was to come here and get a draw..no plan to win
This reminds me of the game vs Leverkusen, unfortunately.
Fantastic Save!!!! Bravo Martinez!!!
What a save!
At this point, I have absolutely no idea what our formation is….
8-0-2 lol
Inzaghi are just sitting deep.
We hate when teams park bus against us. Do we approve when Inter does it? Thise substitutions are for the bus Hold on tight it’s going to get crazy
if it works… a win is a win
Damn…. another injury at wing back…. and our best one at that!!
Napoli played better since they are at home. Inter must score at least one more goal if they wish to win. Conte always get lucky second half. So the upcoming 50 minutes will be hell
Nasty play by Napoli. The ref even nastier.
Inter must push for the second goal. They can’t just let Napoli win corner after corner when Inter have better players that can unlock Napoli defence
So far so good, but my nerves are shot to pieces already!! We need a second goal!!
I know that it’s a huge game, and you want your strongest 11 out there, but I’m not sure we should keep rushing Thuram back… he’s not moving well, and doing very little… Arnautovic must be on a high after midweek, so hopefully he can be a useful sub in the second half…
You forgot the important midweek match. Inzaghi is gambling today if he wins this match today, he will get at least one trophy for inter this season,
Stevie Wonder would be a better referee than this clown!!
damn game stressing me out. Hate to go the whole game leading just to not win in the end.
Are we going to defend to whole second half♂️
They are always able to send the ball into our penalty box, luckily our defense is still solid
I can hear Inzaghi’s yelling from my backyard LOL
C’mon boys!! WTF?!? We can’t just defend for 70 minutes!!! We’re better than them!! Should be going for a second!!!
So if we make a tackle, it’s a foul, but if we get clattered and smashed, nothing…. Cannot stand this fkn Ref!!!
Nice one, Fede. Now park the bus. 😀
where is everyone ??
very few comments ! ? why
I have a feeling it’s because the comment section is basically in 2002 format.
where to watch?
yes we dont need that debatable penalty to score a goal. they said marotta league when they thought we robbed them, but when they robbed us, they said they are human. funny.
Glad we didn’t get the obvious penalty now!! DiMarcooooo Goooaaalll!!! what a free kick!!!
LETS GOOO!!! TAKE THAT REF!!!!
I cannot believe this bs
Ref is such a joke
Draw would be not bad result. But, hope for win.
Blind@$$ ref
Can’t stand this ref….
Forza Inter.
Hate how slow we’re playing
I am currently watching this game and Napoli is not playing a 3 man defense. Conte lied on the lineup.
any links guys?
If Bastoni or DiMarco could even play 90 minutes is a massive unknown. If one gets a yellow card it will be interesting to see what Inzaghi does
Pavard will be playing rwb in the 2nd half it looks like. Hoping for no more injuries.
This match is beyond Huge!! We can make up for our poor record against the big clubs this season on one go, and send Napoli off a cliff!! Atalanta dropped points again too, so this really is a massive chance to get a grip on this year’s Scudetto!!
Go for the jugular from minute 1 boys, Napoli are on the ropes!!
Slightly surprising that nobody from the primevera has been called up… specifically a wing back! Looks like DiMarco and Dumfries are getting the full 90!
Let’s go boys, let’s open a 4 point gap!!
FORZA INTER!!!!
Your obsessed with our primavera kids
You’re obsessed with me! Go and stalk someone else… I’m not interested!
You’re just a frustrated English dude om your late 70s…just have your cup of tea and chill
we have cochi and aidoo in the line up. they left and right back from primavera.. saw it in google line up for this match.
Good! Even as an option for 10 minutes, should we have a healthy lead…
