Inter Milan striker Marcus Thuram says that his strike partner Lautaro Martinez is a “special friend” for him even off the pitch.
The Frenchman spoke to InterTV, via FCInterNews, after yesterday’s 2-1 Champions League win over Feyenoord. He explained why he went to celebrate his goal with Martinez.
Marcus Thuram and Lautaro Martinez have formed a strike partnership for Inter Milan for the past couple seasons.
Inter captain Martinez has shown the ability to operate effectively with a number of different strike partners.
The Argentine has played alongside the likes of Romelu Lukaku and Edin Dzeko, among others.
But the tandem of Martinez and Marcus Thuram seems to have even greater chemistry.
Both of the two forwards have a certain versatility to their game. Neither needs to be either the main goal threat in the penalty area, or the support player.
Therefore, Martinez and Thuram have been able to interchange fairly freely.
This has seen the Argentine and French internationals complement each other very well. They have brought the best out of one another on a consistent basis.
Marcus Thuram: “Lautaro Martinez A Special Friend For Me”
Inter captain Lautaro Martinez did not start yesterday against Feyenoord. The 27-year-old got a rest for the Champions League clash.
However, that did not stop Inter striker Marcus Thuram from rushing over to Martinez on the bench after he got a big early goal in the round of sixteen second leg.

Thuram explained the reason for singling Martinez out to celebrate with. “He’s a special friend for me,” the Frenchman said.
“After the goal, I wanted to go over to give him a shout out.”
Meanwhile, Marcus Thuram said of the result that “We’ve very happy to have won.”
“And to go on to the next round. Now we’ll have to face Bayern.”
The France international called Bayern Munich “one of the best teams in Europe.”
“They’re in great form,” he said of the Bundesliga leaders. “It will be a great match.”
