Alessandro Bastoni and Nicolo Barella struggled in last night’s draw between Germany and Italy, but Davide Frattesi fared well.

According to Corriere dello Sport via FCInterNews, the Nerazzurri duo faltered at Signal Iduna Park.

Italy fought back from a three-goal deficit at halftime to hold Germany to a breathless 3-3 draw in Dortmund.

However, it wasn’t enough for Luciano Spalletti’s side to reach the UEFA Nations League semi-finals.

Indeed, Gli Azzurri slipped to a 2-1 home loss last Thursday and, as a result, had to wave goodbye to this season’s competition.

Alessandro Bastoni flopped in the first leg as a result of Spalletti’s decision to change his role.

Despite returning to his favorite position, the 25-year-old looked sluggish and insecure.

Indeed, his misplaced pass led to Germany’s third.

Unfortunately, Barella couldn’t replicate his first-leg performance as fatigue seemingly caught up with the Inter star.

However, Davide Frattesi was a breath of fresh air since coming off the bench at the start of the second half.

The ex-Sassuolo midfielder took Daniel Maldini’s place and brought more energy to the build-up play.
