Mainz captain Silvan Widmer recalls his time in Serie A while heaping praise on Inter Milan left-back Federico Dimarco.

The Switzerland international is a former Udinese player. He played his football in Friuli between 2013 and 2018.

Therefore, the right-back will be keeping a close eye on Sunday’s Serie A contest between Inter and Udinese which will take place at San Siro. Needless to say, the BetZillion experts, who provide fans with valuable insight into bonuses available from a variety of betting companies, have identified best Serie A betting sites with the best deals, so backing the Nerazzurri, the clear odds-on favourites to prevail over their visitors this weekend, can be more lucrative than ever.

Although the Zebrette are enjoying a fine moment (aside from their latest defeat against Hellas Verona), Inter remain the defending Serie A champions and current league leaders. Moreover, they’ll be playing at home in front of their home supporters.

All in all, Simone Inzaghi’s side should have enough to put the Friulians to bed. Even Widmer would agree with this statement, despite his great affection for Udinese.

After all, the 32-year-old notes how the Beneamata possess some of the finest players in the game, including Dimarco whom he describes as one of the best wingbacks in the world.

“The Nerazzurri full-backs are great, especially Federico Dimarco,” said Widmer in his interview with Il Messaggero via FcInterNews.

“For me, he’s one of the best players in the world. He has technique and strength, it’s complicated to play against him.

“It will be a tough test for Udinese, it will require a feat from the entire team, as it won’t be enough to just play a great game when not in possession, against an opponent of this calibre. You also need to have courage in the offensive phase.”

Widmer also recalled his Serie A debut, which curiously ensued against the Nerazzurri.

“It was a very difficult match, because we lost 3-0. But from a personal standpoint, I was proud to have made my debut in Serie A.

“I was still very young and on my flank, that is the right side, I had Yuto Nagatomo in front of me.  It was a hard-fought test between the two of us, but I remember winning all the aerial duels,” said the Swiss with a grin as he alluded to the Japanese fullback’s small stature.”

Following his five years at Udinese, Widmer returned to Switzerland through the gates of FC Basel in 2018. He spent three years in his home country before moving to his current club, Mainz, in 2021.
