Per Spanish news outlet AS via FCInterNews, the German star is edging closer to full recovery from a long-term knee injury.

However, the 32-year-old will not be at Hansi Flick’s disposal for the first leg coming up next week.

In addition to the former Borussia Monchengladbach ace, Barcelona may be without talismanic striker Robert Lewandowski.

Indeed, the Polish veteran sustained a thigh injury against Celta Vigo last weekend and will likely miss Inter’s visit.

Despite undergoing surgery, everyone had expected the experienced keeper to only return to action next term.

However, he could be between the sticks in the second leg against Inter at the San Siro.

Meanwhile, Wojciech Szczesny will fill the void in goal next week.
