Simone Inzaghi says that it would be “too easy to blame refereeing errors” after Inter Milan fell to yet another Serie A loss against Roma.
The Nerazzurri coach gave his thoughts in a press conference after the match, as reported by FCInterNews. He also made clear that the team needs “everything” against Barcelona and beyond.
Inter Milan fell to a third straight loss across all competitions against Roma this evening.
It was not a good enough performance from the Nerazzurri in the Serie A clash. Particularly in the first half.
However, in the second half as Inter pushed for a goal, there was one particular flashpoint incident.
Inter Yann Bisseck had looked to turn in a header from teammate Marko Arnautovic.
However, Roma defender Evan Ndicka, who was the wrong side of Bisseck, grabbed the German with both arms, appearing to drag him back.
Bisseck appealed for a foul adamantly. As did the 24-year-old’s Nerazzurri teammates.
However, referee Michael Fabbri did not view it as a penalty. And the VAR did not intervene to tell the on-field referee to have another look at the incident.
Inzaghi: “Too Easy” To Talk About Refereeing Errors After Inter Milan 0-1 Roma Serie A Loss

Had Inter been awarded the penalty, it certainly would have been a lifeline that would have allowed them to salvage something.
However, Nerazzurri coach Simone Inzaghi was not in the mood to focus on the officiating.
“It would be too easy to talk about that,” he said.
“We have to focus on why the match went the way it did beyond that.”
Inzaghi admitted that “in the first half we didn’t play the way we’re used to.”
“We didn’t press enough, and left big gaps. And we paid the price.”
“The goal was a bit of an unfortunate moment. But Roma played a great match.”
Simone Inzaghi noted that “in the second hafl we gave everything we had to try and equalize.”
“And I think our fans understood that,” the Inter coach continued.
“The applause from them at the end was nice. But it doesn’t make us forget this bad loss.”
“There are still matches left to play. And now we’ll have to think about the next one in Barcelona.”
As far as what the team need to do against Barcelona, Inzaghi said that “we need everything.”
“Rest, recovery. It’s not the right thing to talk about what should have been or wasn’t. We knew what the fixture list would be, and we wanted it.”
The Inter coach declared that “the players will always have my gratitude, because they’re giving everything.”
INZAGHI is a good tactitian,, always learns from bad matches but doesn’t remember anything. same goes to players, who always repeat the same sentences after a loss, but never remember that they should give it all during the 100 mins. I’m perplexed how INZAGHI does not remember or notes that when inter play with correa, arnautovich and taremi , they give advantage to the opposing team as first they start playing with 10 players, sometimes with 9, and if they happen to be together , they play with 8!!!!. It’s true that once in a while, they scored, cannot understand why he persists in playing them when they are out of shape in all respects. I’m sure, and we have seen it already, that when he introduced players from the primavera, they showed willingness, eagerness and very productive on the field of play. its true as well that they are playing many games, but the substitutes surely are not that worn out!!!! .Finally, the coach has all the responsibility to work psychologically. on the players mentality, besides the physical and tactical and technical sides. WISHING GOOD LUCK TO OUR COACH INZAGHI AND THE PLAYERS, IN SPITE OF MY CRITICSOING, BUT MY INTENTIONS ARE ONLY TO PROUD OF INTER AS ALWAYS. FORZA INTER
Conte is a serial winber, he will clear the remaining games, he is the kind that finds a way to win, while Inzaghi is hoping to win
it is simply the most stupid mistake not to sack him!
Who will replace Inzaghi? Please give me one manager that Inter could bring that would do better than Inzaghi with these players.
haha.. i have the same question..
maybe Conte with his tantrum with his list wanted players and UCL failure. Or maybe Allegri, Sarri, De Zerbi, or other unknown coaches..
i myself still believe in Inzaghi with so far achievements even without trophy this season.
plastic fans like you are why Inter is in deep shit couple of years back. Firing coaches right left center like we can afford them.
You need to change tactics. The team is often very predictable like a midtable one. Make changes and end the season with silverware.
Exactly what I was going to say., same pattern of play all season long and everyone knows how to play inter by now.. at some point during the season conte changed his pattern of play from 3-4-3 to 3-5-2 and then later 3-4-3 based on the players he had available and inzaghi on the other hand is still stuck with his out dated 3-5-2 system unfortunately, the squad is also too old and I have been saying this for several months
Inzaghi should have probably made some modifications at the beginning of the season, as cracks had already started to show near the end of the last season. While young, dribbling, fast quality players should be bought in the summer, I suspect that without some tweaks from Inzaghi in the playing style, we can’t reach much next season. After all, history shows that even the strongest of teams needed changes in playing style and identity after a few successful seasons. Inzaghi needs to make the right call now.
You’ve said it all… But many fans here are blind to these facts…
Nobody is against young, dribbling, fast, quality players. What I’m trying to tell you is that Inter doesn’t have the money to buy this type of players because they are expensive. That’s why Marotta brings on veteran players on free transfers. Mhkitaryan, Darmian, Acerbi, and Sommer have been great at Inter. All of them (except for Sommer who’s a GK) run their asses off and play more minutes than Bastoni and Dimarco to name a few. I don’t think any of these players are to blame for what’s going on. As a matter of fact, it’s the bench players like Bisseck, Asllani, and Fratessi who aren’t up to par and they are the young ones. If you think playing primavera players will magically fix things, then you’re not thinking clearly.
