Beppe Bergomi feels that Inter Milan have “paid a massive price” for their intense efforts against Bayern Munich in the Champions League.

Inter Milan had perhaps the high point of their entire season against Bayern Munich in the Champions League.
The Nerazzurri got a famous win in the first leg of their Champions League quarterfinal tie away in Bavaria.
Then, in the second leg, Inter saw out a 2-2 draw. A memorable second half burst saw Inter advance to the semifinals of Europe’s top club competition.
However, those heroics did come at a cost. Inter clearly suffered from some tiredness in the aftermath of their tie against Bayern.
Moreover, Inter lost striker Marcus Thuram to a muscle problem after the match against Bayern.
And that has seen Inter slump to three straight losses. And all without scoring a goal.
Bergomi Argues Inter “Have Paid A Massive Price” For Bayern Munich Heroics

Former Inter Milan captain Beppe Bergomi argued that the Nerazzurri “paid a massive price for the tie against Bayern Munich, in terms of physical and nervous energy.”
“It’s true that they came out on top,” he noted. “But in the second leg they scored twice from set piece, while they allowed a lot of chances.”
“In those two matches there were two sliding doors moments. When do you ever see Harry Kane miss a chance like he did in the first leg? Then Thomas Muller had a perfect chance for 2-0 at the San Siro, but shot wide.”
“Inter are the best team in applying their game,” Bergomi argued. “And particularly in the Champions League, they keep their focus high.”
“And after that they’ve faced three strong opponents. So Inter had no margin for error.”
“Therefore, each team has been named with the next match in mind,” Bergomi suggested.
“Is that the right way to think? Higher average squad age, and a lot of injuries.”
people keep praising fratessi but his defensive contribution during big matches are very very poor. we need a player like barella status in d next transfer market to help out when Nikki has overplayed
DeMoor I like your saying
our bench or substitute aren’t good enough n most like the oldies can’t play every game. we need young and energetic players not just to warm the bench but have crucial part during next season campaign.
no more signing of veterans on free transfer.
Marota and Zannetti didn’t help Inzhagi at all last summer !!!! If he helped Inzhagi with 3 young good players 1 stricker, 1 midfielder and 1 defender, Inter would have won the league earlier than now. Inter players and Inzhagi did a great job the whole season but they have a lot of old players and the bench didn’t help Inzhagi !!!! Inter only has 13 top players who can bring champions league and the league only if the bench was as good as the starters !!!! But Marrota was holding on to the money too much. The planning wasn’t good at all last summer. You gotta stop trying to sign old people for free and actually buy good young players if you want to win in europe
Marotta is not the owner, he spends what he is given to spend. Lets see what funds Oaktree will make available for him this summer. It will give a better picture of Oaktree’s vision and goals.
I would also like to see better players at Inter but I feel like you’re scapegoating the old players here a bit. Yes, Mkhitaryan, Acerbi, Darmian, and Sommer are old, but are these the players who are dropping their form? These players are capable of running non-stop for 90+ minutes and hardly any of the goals are their fault. As you mentioned before, the bench is not at the same level as the starters. Young players like Fratessi, Asllani, and Bisseck are not pulling their weight; they’re actually dragging the team with their performances. Then we have Dimarco who is nowhere near his best level and Lautaro that needs like 10 chances to score a goal this season (even though he’s doing great in CL).
The reason why they sign old players for free is because there’s no money. Good young players will cost at least 50 million, which is money Inter doesn’t have. Did you miss Suning losing Inter to Oaktree because they weren’t able to pay off the loan? Did you miss Inter selling Lukaku and Hakimi to keep the boat afloat after winning Serie A in 2021? You have to be realistic, buddy.
well said bro
