Lautaro Martinez feels that it’s been a “great season” for Inter Milan even though they did not win any trophies after today’s loss to PSG.
The Nerazzurri captain spoke to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, via FCInterNews, after this evening’s 5-0 humbling.
Inter Milan came into this evening’s Champions League final knowing that it was a match that would define their season.
The Nerazzurri had lost out on the Supercoppa Italiana and the Coppa Italia already. And worst of all, they lost out on the Serie A title to Napoli on the final day of the season.
However, all of that disappointment would have been swiftly erased had Inter beaten Paris Saint-Germain this evening.
That was not what happened, though. Far from it, Inter suffered an absolutely crushing defeat against the Ligue 1 giants. They lost by a shock scoreline of 5-0.
Lautaro Martinez: “Great Season For Inter Milan, Even Without Trophies”

Inter Milan captain Lautaro Martinez reflected on this evening’s defeat after the match.
“We were unable to do any of what we’d prepared,” he said.
“Congratulations to PSG. They played an extraordinary final.”
“They didn’t make any mistakes and they deserved it,” added the Inter captain.
However, Martinez then said that “I’m proud of the team.”
“Of the coach. The club.”
“Now we have to pick ourselves back up,” continued Martinez. “As is only right.”
“We’ve had a great season. Despite not winning a single trophy.”
“Wins are what matter,” added the Nerazzurri captain. “There’s bitterness and the desire to start again.”
“We gave everything on the pitch. Today, we suffered a loss that hurts. But I’m proud.”

i feel bad for the likes of tikus and toro, they need mids that can serve them right so the goals can come more easily. or players that can give different influences and playing style like sanchez or cuadrado so that the games couls be less predictable. this season ended with along similar worriness, it was always the same style for most of the games.
if you think this season is good you should give your captain band to someone else.
Am absolutely disappointed, this past season has been ashamedly uniquie for ‘la bien amata’ of Milano; lnter lost ALL season honours against opponents of less quality than lnter’s, namely Milan (in January), Bologna & Roma (in April) & PSG (yesterday). Inter’ve proved superiority all along the season; SOMETHING went wrong. Not the players’ fault, not lnzaghi’s fault, not the referees’ fault; you guess
what remains is the bIggest CL Final loss in HISTORY!!!!
After being mad for hours, I’ve realized that what we achieved is insane. we beat Bayern and Barcelona (supposedly the best team in Europe, before we won). Last time we got in the final, we had the easiest draw ever:
Porto -> Benfica -> Milan -> M.City.
We are competing internationally again in just another budget season, and it looks this time we’ll be spending.
And of course I’m still mad at missing our Serie A chance.
Nvm I’m still mad lol
What it has been, is a great season financially, and the management now have to make the most of a bad situation, and give this squad the overhaul it needs!!
