Simone Inzaghi has bid farewell to the Inter Milan faithful after deciding to leave the club for Saudi Arabia.
In an official statement released by Inter.it, the 49-year-old sent a heartfelt message to the Nerazzurri fans.
Despite Inter’s hopes of trying Simone Inzaghi down to a new long-term deal, the parties will go separate ways.
Indeed, Al-Hilal’s stratospheric contract offer has proved too tempting for the former Lazio coach.
He will earn around €50 million for a two-year deal in Riyadh. Therefore, it would make him one of the world’s highest-paid managers.
Meanwhile, he leaves the San Siro with a few regrets.
Though he won the Serie A title last season and five other major domestic trophies, Inzaghi couldn’t conquer the Champions League.
He helped the 20-time Italian champions qualify for two finals in the last three years, only to lose both.
Unfortunately, Paris Saint-Germain thrashed his team 5-0 in this season’s showpiece in Munich.
It proved Inzaghi’s final game in charge.
Simone Inzaghi Bids Farewell to Inter Milan

“Dear Nerazzurri family,” the message starts.
“The time has come for me to say goodbye to this club after a four-year journey, during which I gave everything.
“Every day I dedicated my first and last thought of the day to Inter. I was reciprocated with professionalism and passion by players, managers and every single employee of the club.
“The six trophies won, including the Second Star Scudetto, together with the path in the Uefa Champions League in 2023 and a few days ago.
“It’s a tangible testimony to how much my work has been supported by a communion of intent with my staff and with every member of Inter.
“I thank the shareholders for the trust that has never been lacking, the President and his collaborators for their daily help and dialogue.
“On a difficult day like today, I think it is right to reiterate this sense of gratitude also for the discussion that ended a short time ago.
“We were sincere and decided together to conclude this magnificent journey.
“I want to dedicate one last word to the millions of Nerazzurri fans who cheered me on, cried and suffered in difficult moments.
“We laughed and celebrated in the six triumphs we experienced together.
“I will never forget you.
“Forza Inter.”
we lost 2 scudetto, 2 UCL. inzaghi is not bad coach but he lack magical and decisive moment as coach. i wish the best for him but inter need move on.
i said he need to go if he lost UCL, and thanksfully he also understood he cant win anything anymore with inter.
soon thuram basto or dumfries will follow to saudi
you didnt talk like family stuff until money splash between your eyes
though im thankful for him, hopefully he stays there and win asian champions league at the very least its champions league though your main enemies also from same league.
Out of all teams he chose Al hilal in the kebab league, because he didn’t get any good offers. Look at how many inter players posted good bye: no more than 3 out of 25.
It was time for goodbye, thanks for the titles but to win 1 major trophy in 4 hours and to gift bilan and napoli a scudetto each is painful. Napoli had 2 scudettos their whole existence. In 4 years they got double the scudetto as inter did.
Change was needed.
It is Europe where he overachieved by reaching the UCL final twice with a team that on paper couldn’t pretend to reach the semis.
In Italy though he underperformed a lot and overall I see his tenure at Inter as a mixed beg rather than a success. A good coach, but not a great one.
That’s what I have always said, he’s a good coach but not a great one.
This is also why he didn’t get any other offers than Al hilal. But to leave inter for the kebab league showed me he has no ambition, just wants money.
I don’t care we lost in two CL finals and won nothing this year. the thrill and the joy he brought to me during journeys to the CL finals can’t be compared. inter won 2 stars in front of milan fans is enough for me. he’ll be remembered as one of the best coaches inter have, if not the best cause he didn’t have money to get players he wanted. massive respect, mister!
Sent a message to a friend on Saturday night, after the game, that this might happen. Now that it has, I am sad. Serie A will miss him.
I’ll never forget 5-0. I’ll never forget the bologna game. I’ll never forget the the game against Lazio. good riddens he’s gone.
Last season serie a win was great Lol. But then again losing 5-0 in the CL final is not a so good thing Lol. Like being in the bad side of history but 100% agree his matches were entertaining and to be fair that’s what football is all about a coaches like Allegri he would make the entire season feel like a snooze fest while still losing but for Inzaghi the matches were just crazy in both good and bad ways. Thanks Inzaghi a true embodiment of Pazza Inter….Now Inter need someone who has the balls to change things up and take the game to the opponents by playing modern football – Fabregas
Totally agreed, thats just what i felt. even Losing in champion is hurt a lot, but the 4 years journey is deeply give another sweet memory in my mind, Joy and tears all mixed up, But overall, Thanks Simeone, Thanks for the Journey. #forzainter from indonesia
Totally gutted to hear this, if the result was different and we had won would have he left then? The timing of a new job offer didn’t help and of course the result was the push that he needed, I don’t hold any bad feelings towards him and say thank you for everything you’ve have done for inter in the past 4 years and I wish him all the best for the future
I think even if he won he would’ve left and to be fair we might want to believe the offer just a few days didn’t have any effect in the final but the reality is that it 100% to both him and the players
Thanks for the wonderful memories. Sadly, it did not end with the finale you deserved. Your tactics were fascinating to me. Maybe not so much last year, when player fitness was less than the year before. This year was more about saving energy at the right moments. You almost managed to do it all with the current squad. Maybe you became a kind of Mancini to our next…
curse the arabs and their money.
I hope oil runs out and they are left with only their Camels and desert.
sad pathetic little man
he is right tho.
he is right in wishing harm on an entire group of people because of a football business deal? this soft fragile pathetic mentality doesn’t belong on our fanbase or our club we’re not Lazio or Cagliari
let him be. even though they have money, it’s not European league, only small people outside their country watch them.
Thanks Inzaghi, you made me love watch this team again. Hope you do well in your next adventure.
Amazing coach, will never forget the CL runs we’ve accomplished on a shoestring budget. I can’t think of a single coach who has done more with what’s he’s been given.
Grazie Mister for everything. You will always be one of us.
worst decision Inzaghi have made but the mouthpiece president of inter most likely told him with a “figuratively” pointing the trigger at Inzaghi’s head, you have to make a decision now not after the World Cup for Clubs. Marotta must be ousted.
Oaktree # out
Marotta # out
Everyone who disagrees with me are # out too.
Go choke on your own vomit little boy.
it’s not marotta who wants him out, but ausilio
Now it’s hard to find coach of his level.
I’m glad he’s gone!!! Inter Milan need to embrace a new style of attacking football. Tactics that dictate a game plan of taking it to the opponents not the traditional Italian Defensive style of play this type of game play is out dated and very boring to watch!! Yes Inzahgi did very well with the players at his disposal but in all honesty our style of play personifies why no team from Seria A has won a major competition in many many years…We need to refresh the squad with youth even if it means going 1 step back to move 2 steps forward our old Squad had rings run around then by a younger PSG team led by a brilliant player Inter Milan decided to sell a few years back instead of selling more obvious personnel..King Hakimi
that attacking football you are talking are only working if you have 2 world class wingers n midfielders that can control midfield area
with just 5 players it may cost more than 300m euro?
what any italian team do you think can afford that much of money?
look liverpool, barca, madrid, psg, man city(soon they may get rid of haaland) to lesser degree arsenal and bayern (harry kane days are coming)
all of them have best wingers and the prices are mind blowing. its never ever been financial fair play, until arab money comes in italy which may not gonna happen, non of italian team can afford fighting again those team above.
i can understand inzaghi’s feeling i may do the same since marotta already said that they are going into rejuvanate and reduce wage bill
how can he afford to win?
