Inter Milan have resumed contact with Genoa head coach Patrick Vieira after Cesc Fabregas turned down a transfer to Lombardy.
Per DAZN via FCInterNews, the Frenchman is now in pole position to fill the managerial vacancy at San Siro.
Simone Inzaghi bid farewell to the Nerazzurri yesterday, leaving a huge gap in the dugout after four impressive years.
Therefore, Beppe Marotta is busy finding a suitable replacement for the Scudetto-winning manager.
Cesc Fabregas had been the club’s first choice, yet the 38-year-old has declined Inter’s proposal to stay at Como.
Inter Milan Intensify Talks with Patrick Vieira After Cesc Fabregas Rejection

Despite his iconic status as a player, Vieira has not had much success as a manager.
After a disastrous episode at Crystal Palace, he had a decent short-term stint at Strasbourg in Ligue 1.
Indeed, he left the club after an unenviable season before taking over the reins at Genoa.
Though he helped the Griffins keep hold of their Serie A status, his defensively-minded football has often raised eyebrows.
Therefore, this selection seems a bit awkward. However, market opportunities are at a premium.
Parma’s Cristian Chivu could be another option for Inter, while Thiago Motta is no longer a viable candidate for the job.
Please where is Klopp why Inter not contacting him.
Let’s wait and see what happens. The club shouldn’t be in a hurry to hire just anyone. I liked the Fabregas option because of his philosophy towards youth, and style of play.
I don’t know where all this is coming from but I have been reading that Inter have made initial contact with Fabregas and another meeting is scheduled. Also reports are that Inter are hoping to wrap a deal up by Friday so I am confused as hell. And one more thing to note is that Fabrizio Romano reported Inter making contact with Fabregas but hasn’t said anything about a rejection which creates even more confusion as he is a very reputable source for these kinds of news.
Fans will bet how many weeks he will stay. Big gamble.
To all who wants Mancini don’t u remember guys ucl matches against Villareal, Valencia and Liverpool matches that guy is clueless as they come no to Mancini
Mancini’s top level career died when his ego became much bigger than himself.
He will have many demands and has a talent to burn money with stubbornness.
Moreover, he has not the mentality of a winner. Don’t get me wrong he is not a bad coach but doesn’t make the cut in big games.
If we go for a stubborn demanding coach I do much prefer Antonio Conte.
Neither Mancho nor Conte will happen btw.
No to Patrick Vieira please. Inter should not rush on getting a coach, if one says no, there are still better option but not Vieira please
Why are we only searching for mid-table managers? Do we expect to win a lottery with one of these names? Please come up with better candidates.
I don’t believe Marotta will make such a rookie mistake and do this. However if it happens then it would mean every good thing comes to end because so far his management decisions have been great even in tough moments so to go for very inexperienced manager with a very backwards style of football it means he will ruin Inter. For the first time in a long time Inter are somewhat stable financially so no need to rush the decision to get someone who is not aligned with the project.
Were completely fucked if Vieira comes. When Conte quited Inter we needed to be fast and we were at a very bad situation cuz of the debt we had cuz of Covid. At that time Inzaghi was the best choice for us, he was always in the top 4 with Lazio and he won everything except scudetto with Lazio. What the fuck are we doin now if we have money but bring coaches which didnt even won a cup, and are still learning to coach? I think De Zerbi and Mourinho are too expensive for Marotta, he would rather pay max. 5 mil per season for Mancini, Farioli, Chivu or someone similar then pay for De Zerbi who also didnt win much at all. We are in a really fucked position, you have no idea
Mancini is worse too.
Klop, Mou, Mancini, Simeone, De Zerbi. Please, no experiments
We will be fighting to avoid relegation.
Vieira, Chivu, they are not ready for Inter.
He will be sacked after 5-6 games.
This is bad… I want Mancini !!!
Mancini or Klopp or at least Motta
A big no!
It would be a disaster season and inevitable short term sacking.
NNOOOOOOOOOO
