Aleksandar Kolarov will become Cristian Chivu’s assistant manager at Inter Milan in the coming days.
According to Gianluca Di Marzio, the former left-back is close to becoming part of the backroom staff at San Siro.
Inter had initially considered Giovanni Martusciello as Chivu’s assistant.
However, ‘bureaucratic’ issues have got in the way, forcing the Nerazzurri to drop interest in the Salernitana boss.
Therefore, they’ve switched their attention elsewhere, and their search has taken them to Aleksandar Kolarov.
The 39-year-old retired three years ago at Giuseppe Meazza.
Inter Milan Set to Hand Aleksandar Kolarov Assistant Role

Inter officially appointed Cristian Chivu as Simone Inzaghi’s successor yesterday.
However, they struggled to land Martusciello despite Chivu’s request.
Kolarov should soon assume the reins and join the Chivu’s staff before Inter’s trip to North America.
The Nerazzurri will compete at the FIFA Club World Cup next week, which will be Chivu’s first test on the new job.
Meanwhile, the former Serbia international will soon join forces with the Romanian coach on his old stomping ground.
Nemanha Vidic is the best choice! Smart, inteligent, was great pkayer, coached by Ferguson, winning mentality….
Please Inter, be serious! I know him very well, he can not coach 10 years old kids. He has no intelectual capacity to be coach.
The experience of winning ten trophies in his playing career, with 3 different teams, you negative piece of meat!
@Davide, the Troll
The only trolls are fans like you who believe all the lies inter CEO through at them. Inter will fight at the relegation zone. Let’s hope Chivu would prove me wrong.
I’m not sure if he can contribute at all. seems very unrealistic to appoint him as assistant. if only going for names and former players, why not cambiasso?
and what experience does he have? LOL I guess fighting for relegation is approaching fast!
