Following Simone Inzaghi’s departure to Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal, fans can look forward to an exciting new era at Inter Milan.
Despite the failed treble win, the squad is in a good place overall. Still, reinforcements are needed for Inzaghi’s successor, Cristian Chivu, to turn the team into trophy winners.
With a title tilt being the main aim next season, Inter have some key areas that need addressing. Inter don’t need a huge squad overhaul, but more of a sprinkling of quality. Get it right this summer and fans who back teams for major trophies on FIRST.com will struggle to ignore the Italian giants. There is work to be done, though.
With transfer rumours rife, below we highlight some potential acquisitions who could help Inter Milan record some memorable triumphs next season.
Nico Paz
Como’s Nico Paz is hot property right now after enjoying a fantastic season. Under the tutelage of Cesc Fabregas, the highly talented 20-year-old has impressed in Serie A.
With Inter potentially needing to replace both Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Hakan Calhanoglu in the near future, Paz could be a viable option. Real Madrid are reportedly circling, though, and they have a buy-back clause for their former player.
Radu Dragusin
Inter could do with some defensive reinforcements. New boss Chivu reportedly wants to sign his countryman,
Radu Dragusin. Before joining Tottenham, the Romanian centre-back impressed for Genoa. According to reports, a potential swap deal with Yann Bisseck could be on the cards.
Samuele Ricci
Another midfield player who could lead Inter Milan into a brighter future, Samuele Ricci is Torino’s most prized asset.
Petar Sucic is already through the door, but another option in the mould of Ricci is reportedly being considered. Ricci wouldn’t come cheap, but the Nerazzurri have cash to splash as they strive to see off the competition.
Jonathan David
Both Lautaro Martinez and Marcus Thuram have shone this season. They bagged plenty of goals, but another goal-getter could help ease the burden on both players’ shoulders.
Lille’s Jonathan David is a name being heavily featured in various reports, particularly as he becomes a free agent at the end of June. With 16 goals in Ligue 1 this season, David’s goal output could make a huge difference.
Arda Guler
While Arda Guler has shown glimpses of his undoubted quality at times for Real Madrid, the Turkish star hasn’t played as much as he would have liked.
The current Los Blancos player would surely jump at the chance to play for a major Italian club like Inter, with his international teammate, Hakan Calhanoglu, putting in a good word on Inter’s behalf.
Paz to play in Miki role would be awesome. But I can say now that Inter isn’t going to spend and none of the names on this list are going to be at Inter next season.
David will replace Lew at Barca.
Guler will stay at Real.
Ricci will go to Juve.
Drag will go to AC.
