Cristian Chivu is bringing in a “silent revolution” with his tactical changes from the Inzaghi era at Inter Milan.
This is highlighted in today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews.
Inter Milan coach Cristian Chivu has now coached three matches in charge of the Nerazzurri.
Inter have progressed beyond the group stage at the Club World Cup after a draw against Monterrey followed by wins over Urawa Red Diamonds and River Plate.
Meanwhile, on Monday Inter will take on Fluminense in the round of sixteen. Watch Inter Milan vs Fluminense for FREE with DAZN on any device!
During these matches, Chivu hasn’t exactly made any radical changes.
The Romanian has mostly stuck with the 3-5-2 shape that Simone Inzaghi has used.
However, that is not to say that Chivu has not had his own ideas.
Cristian Chivu Brings “Silent Revolution” To Inter With New Tactical Ideas

As the Gazzetta dello Sport notes, there are a few tactical changes in particular that have been notable.
Inter Milan have been defending with a higher line under Chivu than they typically had under Inzaghi.
Furthermore, the Nerazzurri have also looked to put more pressure on the ball higher up the pitch.
Then, when Inter have won the ball back, they have played it forward quicker. They have not circulated the ball around the back as much as they had done under Inzaghi.
Meanwhile, the Gazzetta notes, Chivu has also departed from Inzaghi’s policy on yellow cards.
Typically, when Inzaghi was at the helm, as soon as a player picked up a booking the coach would take them off within a few minutes.
However, Chivu has trusted players on yellow cards. Most notably, Alessandro Bastoni against River Plate.

Trusting the players to stay on the pitch if they have received a yellow card is really refreshing! It’s true that under Inzaghi we virtually never had anyone sent off, but there were numerous instances where the wrong players were being substituted (mainly Bastoni) because they were on a yellow, and subsequently, valuable points were dropped!!
Yea who would have thought Inzaghi leaving and Chivu joining would give us so much excitement haha
Yeah! I thank Inzaghi for his time, even if it ended on a bit of a sour note, but I think that by the end there were aspects to Inzaghis management that were becoming very frustrating to everyone, such as the yellow card rule, the like for like substitutions, and the complete refusal to play young players…. If Chivu comes in and addresses these issues, while keeping the core values that brought us success, he should be on to a winner!!!
This is the kind of football I’ve been savoring for and now we are actually building towards it. What an exciting time this is!
The fitness staff should work seriously this summer so our players don’t get tired mid-season again. That is the main concern.
we hire Rapetti former Inter treble 2009/10 fitness coach.. i believe he is better than inzaghi’s fitness coach
