Cristian Chivu understands the anger of Inter Milan captain Latuaro Martinez after the team lost 0-2 against Fluminense.
The Nerazzurri coach spoke to Italian broadcaster DAZN, via FCInterNews, after the Club World Cup round of sixteen loss.
Inter are out of the Club World Cup. The Nerazzurri lost 0-2 against Brazilian side Fluminense in the round of sixteen.
And after the match, Inter captain Lautaro Martinez did not mince words.
The Argentine insisted that “anyone who wants to leave, should leave” in his comments after the match.
This could perhaps be open to a number of interpretations. Whether it was a veiled jab at the departure of Simone Inzaghi for big money at Al-Hilal, or a response to the transfer rumours surrounding Hakan Calhanoglu.
But as much as any of that, it was also just an expression of sincere frustration from the Inter captain.
The Nerazzurri have spent the last few weeks trying to use the Club World Cup to rebuild their shattered momentum. And today’s lost showed just how far they have to go.
Cristian Chivu Defends Outburst From Inter Captain Lautaro Martinez

After Martinez’s comments, Inter coach Cristian Chivu said that “we’re winners, sometimes we show our pride and character.”
“I also said the same kind of things in the press conference. That we have to all stay in the same boat.”
“He said the same kind of things, but without holding back,” Chivu said.
“But that applies to everyone. To a team, and to a club that are hungry to redeem themselves for a season that wasn’t hard to manage.”
Chivu made clear that Inter “want to plan for next season with ambition.”
Meanwhile, the Inter coach admitted his team lacked “freshness” compared to Fluminense this evening.
“We didn’t start off the way a team that wanted to give their all on the pitch should.”
“We suffered from the intensity and pressure they brought. We were a bit presumptuous, looking to play pretty football when we could have done things simply.”
“But that’s who we are,” Chivu added. “The energy we had was evident.”
“We tried to turn it around right until the end. We were also unlucky hitting the inside of the post, and the chance for de Vrij.”
“In the end, we conceded two goals from three shots on target,” Chivu said.
truthfully idgaf of how you trash talks of angel talks to eo. i need you all to sort things out, and find the right solutions on why we had bad performances, f55king evaluate those old scratch tactics, and give us on how to play well for next seasons. that’s all, i dont give any attention on how you hurt eo feelings or not. it is your f55king business in your own houses and your dinners. not here.
I didn’t see any pretty football wtf. How am I seeing professional players not even being able to hold on the ball without losing it. All I saw were miss passes and back passes.
New coach !!! U have zero identity.. u don’t wonna do anything but just copy and paste the same thing Inzhagi had done. u still wonna play these old dudes and u saw what happened when Inter played a young talented team in psg Mikhatrian (which I have zero idea how the hell is he playing pro football), Darmian, Acherbi, etc …. This is bulcrap!!! Have some balls and put the young players in.
seriously shut up you stupid kid. sick of seeing this uncontrollable moaning on every article. same goes to you petery and interfan. absolutely baseless stupid non factual, fifa playing idiotic narrative where in ever post you compare us against psg or man city. shut up you don’t know what you are talking about you retardz
What a shameful loss. Meanwhile Inzaghi beat Man City with Al Hilal. They play with their heart out. Need to use long ball when necessary, stop passing out from back everytime. Both Inter and Juve gave away cheap goals in this tournament but those clubs from other continent play with their heart.
Inter’s strength is counter attack but you can’t counter if you gave away cheap goals.
This team has looked tired and exhausted since March when Inzaghi kept dragging the oldest team in Uefa this year chasing treble, it’s time to focus on youth players and start building all over again with champions league qualification being the target for the next 2yrs and then slowly start challenging for titles again. The earlier we start the difficult process the better, we should give the veterans 32yrs+ players in the team a golden handshake and start a new era with younger players with some league and European experience, without this competition am sure management would have renewed faith again in this old squad
I agree seeing sucic, carboni, sebastiano movement is something we’re lacking this season and breath of fresh air
It is natural for our captain to be frustrated. Because in 4 matches during the CWC, the main players who looked serious and enthusiastic during the match were only Lautaro, Barella, Micky. Bastoni and Dimarco looked tired, plus many players were injured. Indeed, the Inter squad did not seem to have reached their fitness level, plus there was no chemistry with new players and those who had just returned from loan.
Totally agree with Lautaro, it’s obvious the team needs a big shift and if you don’t want to be part of it better to leave now and let club built early. I think Lautaro is just been through so much players waiting last month of transfer to leave and in the end having to sign all these last minute players.
Man city 1 Inzaghi 1
Man city 1 Inzaghi 2
100% Amo El Capitano! Forza Inter! What I love about Inter is the team mentality. We want team players. You play for the team or you leave.
Il Capitano not El
Yes sir!
absolutely right to be said.
I applaud the strength to stand up for the club.
players who don’t want to put in 100% should request a transfer and good luck to them at Man Utd
Considering the way Thuram played yesterday, do you think he is one of the people Lautaro was talking about?
